Argentina, Japan, Uruguay rise on Netflix ISP Speed Index

July 8, 2024

Eighty-eight per cent of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) stayed at their same speed in June with a few notable increases and decreases on the Netflix ISP Speed Index – a monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime-time Netflix streaming experience.

Thirty-six countries and regions were in the top performance tier in June: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States and Uruguay all registered an average speed of 3.0 Mbps.

Ten per cent of ISPs improved by 0.2 Mbps while eight ISPs saw a decrease of 0.2 Mbps since May’s results. Eastlink – DSL in Canada fell from 2.4 to 2.2 Mbps. In Vietnam, FPT Telecom dropped from 2.8 to 2.6 Mbps. In Pakistan, Jazz and KK Networks both decreased from 2.0 to 1.8 Mbps, Pakistan Telecom fell from 2.2 to 2.0 Mbps, and Wancom dropped from 2.6 to 2.4 Mbps. In Kuwait, Qualitynet fell from 2.6 to 2.4 Mbps. CoolIdeas in South Africa dropped from 3.0 to 2.8 Mbps.

There were also a few notable increases in country average speeds this month. Argentina, Japan and Uruguay all experienced increases of 0.2 Mbps, with each rising from 2.8 to 3.0 Mbps. Honduras and Kuwait also saw increases of 0.2 Mbps, rising from 2.6 to 2.8 Mbps.

The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime-time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Higher Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times, and fewer interruptions. We also created a separate tool to check your current download performance: Visit https://FAST.com on any internet browser or download the FAST Speed Test iOS or Android app.
