The World Bank Group Academy

The World Bank Group Academy is a dynamic platform focused on development impact, that unites the expertise of Global and Local partners, alongside the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), to tackle pressing development challenges.

The mission of the Academy is to empower Coalitions for Reform through knowledge sharing and capacity building, with the goal of reducing poverty and boosting prosperity on a livable planet.

Each Program is designed to address specific development challenges and uses an action learning approach involving planning, acting, reflecting, and learning to ensure innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions.

  • Facilitated Peer-to-Peer Learning: Collaborative learning through in-person or e-learning formats.
  • Active Communities of Practitioners: Engaged networks of experts that enhance knowledge sharing.
  • Access to Extensive Knowledge Resources: Granted access to a wealth of relevant data and information.

The programmatic approach emphasizes impact through agile and customized delivery of actionable knowledge over 18 to 24 months, depending on specific needs.

Each World Bank Group Academy Program carefully selects reform champions from diverse sectors, including government, the private sector, central banks, regulatory bodies, civil society, academia, and think tanks. Fostering robust coalitions for change that are finely tuned to each country's unique context and challenges promotes a collaborative environment, where different perspectives and expertise can converge to create comprehensive solutions.

Continuous learning and exchange of knowledge is supported by a community of experts, ensuring that the solutions designed are not only innovative and effective but also sustainable and widely supported across different segments of society.

Member countries interested in achieving impact in a particular development challenge can express interest in the Academy program by contacting their World Bank Group counterparts.

Leveraging the World Bank Group’s Global Footprint, WBG Academy Programs are being delivered in partnership with relevant partners globally, regionally, and locally: academia, think tanks, private sector and other development organizations

Together, we are committed to transforming ideas into actionable strategies that create meaningful change.
