What time will Apple release the iOS 18 public beta? [U]

Want to install iOS 18 this summer but not ready to spring for the developer beta? Apple previously shared the iOS 18 public beta will arrive in July, but when exactly? Here’s when to expect the iOS 18 public beta release date and time.

Update 1:25 pm PT: The public beta is now available.

Update 7/15: If Apple releases the first iOS 18 public beta this week, the most likely launch time will be ~10 am PT.

For the last four years, we’ve seen the first public beta land at 10:10, 10:07, 10:43, and 10:00 am PT. Apple could always switch things up, but hopefully, it’s just around the corner.

Update 7/12: This week we saw iOS 18 beta 3 arrive for developers which in recent years has been one week before the first public beta.

All signs are pointing to the first iOS 18 public beta arriving the week of July 15 and it could come as soon as Monday, July 15.

Per usual, Apple released the first iOS 18 beta for developers after the WWDC keynote. While it is free for anyone to install, it’s not intended to be installed on your main iPhone.

But we’re not far away from a more stable beta release intended for the public. That typically arrives just after the third developer beta, five weeks after WWDC.

We know the iOS 18 public beta is coming in July, but when?

TL;DR

  • If Apple’s trend holds, that puts the iOS 18 public beta release during the week of July 15

That’s based on the last two years Apple doing the release 5 weeks after the first developer beta.

There’s always a chance Apple could shake things up and do a four or six-week interval between the developer and public beta. The former would make for a July 8-10 release and the latter would mean a July 22-24 launch.
