Police: Woman seeking revenge for breakup set fire to Canandaigua motel

Stanley, N.Y. (WHAM) - Ontario County Sheriff's deputies said a woman seeking revenge for a breakup set fire to a Canandaigua motel late Wednesday night.

Investigators said Cheryl Buckley, 60, was upset over the breakup and went to the Pinewood Manor Motel on County Road 50 in Canandaigua just before midnight on Wednesday.

Deputies said Buckley intentionally set fire to the motel while trying to set fire to a car.

Investigators said Buckley had also previously tried to start a fire at the motel outside of the victim's room and also put a rag soaked in gasoline inside the exhaust pipe of the victim's vehicle.

Buckley was arrested and charged with arson. She was arraigned and remanded to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
