How to make Fresh Pear Crumble Pie
- Step 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix together 1 cup sour cream, ½ cup granulated sugar, 1 beaten egg, 1 tbsp all-purpose flour, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and ½ tsp salt in a bowl.
- Step 2. Place the pie crust in a pan. Make holes in the crust using a fork. Add the sour cream mixture to the crust.
- Step 3. Peel and core 2 fresh pears. Then, cut into 1/4″ thick slices.
- Step 4. Place pear slices over the sour cream filling. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Step 5. Add ⅔ cup all-purpose flour, ⅓ cup sugar, ¼ cup butter and ½ tsp cinnamon to the small bowl. Mix using a fork until crumbly.
- Step 6. Remove the pear pie from the oven. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the pie. Bake for additional 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is set. Let it cool completely at room temperature. Then, cover with an aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Refrigerate before serving.
TIPS FOR BAKING THE PERFECT Pear Crumble Pie
1 ) You can use canned pears (about 2 cans) instead of fresh pears. Drain canned pears. Cut into slices. Then, let the pear slices dry on some paper towels.
2 ) You can use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar for the crumbled topping.
3 ) This pear crumbles pie tastes better the next day. Place pie in the refrigerator if it has cooled to room temperature. Store in the refrigerator before serving.
