Fireworks at the Harbor

Last night was the final night of the Concert at the Lake series.  Voodoo Blue was the band.  The are a SRV tribute band, and very good.  After the concert we hung around for some fireworks.  Skywatch Friday here.

The Texas Marlins baseball team finished play in the summer baseball league.  This past weekend they played in the Texas Teenage High School Eligible Boys State Tournament.  They played all day Saturday and Sunday.  They made it to the Semi-finals Sunday afternoon where they lost to the Athens Hornets.  The tournament had a field of 28 teams. The Marlins are made up of players from the Terrell area, with the majority playing for Terrell High School.  They take a few weeks off before fall ball starts.

Animal Adoption Event

Saturday, the Terrell Animal Adoption Center had an adoption event at the local Tractor Supply store.  Cilla, in the middle of the picture in uniform, along with her team of volunteers brought 8 dogs to the store.  While hoping for an adoption or two, Cilla said she wasn't expecting anything.  They didn't have time to publicize the event.  By the end of the four hours, I think Cilla said they had two dogs get adopted!  The Center will hold adoption events every third Saturday at Tractor Supply in Terrell.

The Hole Thing

As a reward for avoiding sweets last week at work we were treated to donuts.

They have some great exotic donuts, including maple bacon,  red velvet, pecan pie, mr banana man, and Elvis (banana & peanut butter) and a bunch I forgot.  Brian got pictures of all of the donuts they got for us at work.  I'll see when hes going to post them.

2012 Too Hot to Handle start

Yesterday morning was one of the largest races of the Summer.  It was the 2012 Too Hot to Handle presented by RunOn as part of the Run Project. Over 3000 runners signed up for either a 5K or 15K, the results are here.  I am still stuck on the sideline with the pins in my hand.  The official race photographer is Jerry Glover Photography, their photos will be ready Wednesday night.  Here are a few of my snapshots of the start. Three days of rain

Mid July and we have had thunderstorms each afternoon for the past 3 days. Maybe today will make 4 days in a row.

Steak night

Last night Southern Junction hosted a fundraiser for Rockwall Pets.  Ten percent of your bill was donated to Rockwall Pets.

Southern Junction is a huge steak house/club/honkytonk.  The fun part is you can grill your own steaks.
If you get there early enough its 2-4-1.  Last year it played host to Bob Harper and The Biggest Loser, Bob rode the mechanical bull.

Flagpole 8K

Wednesday morning was the Flagpole 8K at Norbuck Park in Dallas.  Here are a few pictures from the morning.  Doctor said 3 more weeks for the pins in my hand, so no running till then.
