Cardinals get goals from nine different players as their offense is already in high gear

TOWSON, MARYLAND – After splitting a pair of season-opening games in Texas, The Woodlands traveled to Maryland, Tuesday, to face one of the top lacrosse programs in nation, suffering a 16-6 loss to nationally ranked Calvert Hall.

The Cardinals, who scored 17 goals in their season-opening romp over Westtown (Pennsylvania), were back in high gear offensively on Tuesday, claiming a 16-6 win over the Highlanders.

Nine different Calvert Hall players found the back of the net, with Will Schoonmaker and Cody Collier each recording hat-tricks, while Peyton Forte, Jackson Mitchell and Sisto Averno scored two goals each.

Forte was the Cardinals' playmaker, adding four assists to give him a six point afternoon. Preston Huffman added a goal and two assists, Collier had a pair of helpers and Averno had one. Also scoring for Calvert Hall were Jack Williams, Matthew Schoonmaker and Ronan Butler, while Will Schwanke had an assist.

Alex Swartz was not test much in goal, but he did have three saves. Ben Cuomo made sure Calvert Hall dominated possession by winning 12-of-18 face-offs and Nick Pocalycko won 4-of-8.

On Friday things get a lot more difficult for Calvert Hall as it will host Lawrenceville (New Jersey), the nation's No. 1 team in the Inside Lacrosse boys national high school rankings. IL has Calvert Hall rated No. 11.

The Woodlands will return home to face St. John's (Texas) next Thursday.
