Warning Shots

A rookie movie producer hangs on by his fingernails as his big project threatens to crash and burn.

I was enjoying this until one character explains why she won't stock Irish whiskey in her hotel, delivering a nasty rant against that country. Not just deeply ignorant of the facts, but irrelevant to the story.

Otherwise, I find the story engaging, despite my scepticism that the material is capable of filling out ten episodes. Performances are good, the style is spot on, with multiple needle-drops generating good period vibes.

At this point my main concern is that the mafia angle may outlast its dramatic effect. Will I find out? Not sure I have the enthusiasm to continue after that whiskey insult.
