Very similar to the finished episode from the very first draft, Richard Okie's Knight of the Fast Lane script still contains some interesting differences. As with other third season episodes, every effort was being made to create automotive adversaries to rival K.I.T.T. (the Drone cars in KNIGHT OF THE DRONES, the Killer Car in CUSTOM MADE KILLER). Here the Dagger DX (originally named The Vector) was conceived as a one-of-a-kind superfast vehicle with a K.I.T.T.-like dash that could genuinely give him a run for his money.

When KITT is racing the red Porsche the speedometer of a Ferrari is shown.

Kitt vs Dagger DX

A cheerleader named Stacy Courtney gets severely injured during an illegal drag race called Banzai-running. As she happens to be the daughter of Michael former partner on the L. A. police force, he decides to investigate. It soon leads him and K. I. T. T. to the owner of Michael's favorite football team, the Cougars.

An engaging episode that touches upon Michael knight's past as Michael Long as well as offering burn rubber entertainment with Knight snooping around to know who knocked a lady during an illegal race.
