"Sawdust" was shown as part of "CBS Summer Playhouse", a show that played various failed pilot episodes to show the network passed on putting into their lineup. Whether CBS was trying to recoup the cost of the pilots or, perhaps, trying to gauge the public's reaction in order to determine whether to actually put the shows into production is something I don't know. Regardless, I actually liked "Sawdust" and found it on YouTube.
The show begins with the death of the owner of a circus. On a whim, an accountant purchases the outfit and his family is anything but thrilled. And, at least for a while, it appears as if the guy threw his money away and made a bit mistake...but then something surprising happens...the family actually LIKES performing in this circus!
I liked the show and the characters. I also think it might have actually made a nice series that the family could have enjoyed. But, this wasn't meant to be.
