Decent Spanish thriller deals with an executive called Daniel : Juan Echanove, who meets a beautiful young, Yolanda : Emma Suarez, both fall in love and soon after, they marry. She has a daughter named Patricia from a previous relation and Daniel has an isolated house in the countryside, all of them go to live at the solitary mansion. But then things go wrong and gruesome happenings take place , leading to an unavoidable conclusion .
This is an interesting and brooding thriller with intrigue, suspense, twists, turns and supposedly based on facts . It is an intriguing movie developing its premises little by little until the inevitable denouement. Interpretations are uniformly good, Juan Echanove is first-class as a disturbing and threatening husband, while Emma Suarez is fine as the sweet and unfortunate wife and the newcomer little girl Tania Henche is pretty well, too . Being well accompanied by an enjoyable support cast, including familiar faces providing appropriate acting , such as : Susi Sanchez, Asuncion Balaguer, Saturnino Garcia, Maite Blasco, Isabel Ordaz and Tony Isbert as a police inspector.
It displays a thrilling and suspenseful musical score by prestigious Alberto Iglesias, Pedro Almodovar's regular, though composed by means of a repetitive synthesizer . As well as atmospheric and evocative cinematography by Federico Ribes. The motion picture was competently directed by Pedro Costa. This recently deceased filmmaker wrote, produced or directed the notorious TV series La Huella del Crimen, in fact this Una Casa en las Afueras 1995 allegedly results to be one episode that premiered in the cinemas. This famous series included important episodes as El Jarabo, Crimen De Calle Fuencarral, Crimen de las envenenados de Valencia , Crimwn del Procurador, Crimen de Expreso de Andalucia, Crimen de capitan Sanchez . And Pedro Costa also directed El Caso Almeria, Redondela, Acosada, Crimen del Cine Oriente and Caso Wanninkhof series made in similar style. Rating 6.5/10. Well worth seeing. The flick will appeal to Spanish cinema fans.
