You couldn't have a campaign in the Second World War without a feature-length movie to celebrate it. Louis Montbatten, given supreme command of the Army in Southeast Asia with the intent of retaking Burma and defeating the Japanese knew that. So under his orders, that was the plan for this movie. Originally it was going to be co-prodced by the American forces. But the high-ups didn't want it to be about Burma and re-establishing the British Empire. They wanted it to about the work to re-establish the land link with China. So the Americans made THE STILLWELL ROAD, which is about that, and Roy Boulting devoted a couple of minutes to the subject herein.
Otherwise it's about the battles of the campaign. Other commanders and groups are mentioned, like Stillwell, Merrill's Marauders,Slim, and the Indian Army. Even the elephants who help build a pontoon bridge get a few kind words. However, by the time this movie is over, it's about the British XIV Army
It gives a good overview of the campaign, and some prime combat photography, as well as British generals sitting in camp chair and sounding very unlifelike as they give their orders.
