Bob Rogers(1926-2024)

Born to British parents, one of Australia's top radio DJs from the
1950s to 1970s started his successful broadcasting career in Brisbane,
Queensland. Rogers joined Sydney radio station 2UE in 1954 to present a
Top 40 show which lasted for the next 8 years. He joined 2SM in 1962
and catapulted it to number 1. Rogers was chosen in 1964 to represent
2SM on The Beatles' legendary tour through Europe, Asia and Australia.
He was subsequently dubbed "the fifth Beatle". He devised a new format
of provocative commentary, gossip and music, upon his return to 2UE to
present his morning radio show. This won him a huge audience as well as
making his program popular amongst interview-hungry artists. Success in
radio spilled onto television as he hosted a late night TV variety Show
called The Bob Rogers Show on the Seven Network for the next five
years. He returned to 2UE in 1994 to present a Sunday morning show. In
1997, Macquarie Radio Network owner John Singleton invited Bob to be a
presenter in his Sydney easy listening station 2CH. He continues to
bring ratings success wherever he goes.
