Former Coronation Street star Brian Capron is to make an appearance in the soap's forthcoming 50th anniversary DVD.
The actor will have a cameo spot in the spinoff project - seven years after fans saw his killer character Richard Hillman meet a watery death in a canal.
However, contrary to some reports today, Capron will not be playing the twin brother of his sinister alter ego Richard. Instead, he will take on the role of a familiar-looking boatman who appears briefly in the special.
A spokesperson for the project told DS: "Brian's cameo will give rise to some hilarious in-jokes about his familiar looks! The resemblance to Richard Hillman is, however, purely coincidental..."
Capron's final scenes as Richard aired in March 2003, when the character tried to kill wife Gail Platt (Helen Worth) and her family.
Coronation Street's upcoming DVD release will centre around Ken Morley and Kevin Kennedy, who are reprising their respective roles as Reg Holdsworth and Curly Watts.
Street regulars Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster) and Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw) have also been confirmed to make appearances in the story.
