Since the dawn of time, when mankind first began inventing, it needed a place to showcase those inventions. Odds are, the cave person who invented the wheel had to roll it around in front of folks to try and raise seed money (which, back then, may have been actual seeds). In the centuries since, producers of products have turned to World’s Fairs to showcase their wares, and later at trade shows. And now, in our modern age, intrepid entrepreneurs turn to television on a hit show called Shark Tank.
Since 2009, hopeful inventors have dived deep into the proverbial “shark tank,” presenting new ideas in the worlds of tech, parenting, and other little lifesavers, before a panel of wealthy investors, hoping to earn their interest, their partnership, and particularly their money. Audiences ate it up, embracing a show that was like American Idol meets a science fair meets the kind of high-flying financial wheeling and dealing most of us will never do.
But while most of us can't offer half a million dollars for 15% equity, we can still vote with our dollar when we see a cool product on the show. Here are some of our favorite clever, cool, or just plain quirky products that swam in the Shark Tank and lived to tell the tale.
