British supermodel Naomi Campbell is celebrating her boyfriend's 50th birthday in the Indian city of Jodhpur.

Campbell has arranged the celebrations in Rajasthan state for her Russian billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin, who she has been dating since 2008.

More than 200 guests, including celebrities such as Kate Moss, Bob Geldof and the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, were flown in for the event.

The main party will be held in the Umaid Bhawan palace hotel on Wednesday.

American singer Diana Ross has been flown in to perform at the party, reports say.

Security for the four-day celebrations is very tight with "50 policemen and 50 home guards" provided by the local administration.

The celebrations kicked off at the 15th Century Mehrangarh Fort which dominates Jodhpur on Tuesday.

The fort has been decorated in brightly coloured Rajasthani and Indian themes by a team of British designers, reports the Press Trust of India.

At the pre-birthday bash on Tuesday, Campbell wore a pink-and-purple traditional long Indian skirt and blouse - known as a lehenga-choli - by Indian designer Manav Gangwani.

Campbell, 42, and Mr Doronin live in Moscow. The Russian billionaire hosted a similarly extravagant party for Campbell's 40th birthday on the French Riviera.

India has recently become a popular destination for celebrity couples. Actress Liz Hurley and Arun Nayar tied the knot at this same fort, while singer Katy Perry married comedian Russell Brand in Rajasthan in 2010.
