- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2013Crockett Johnson is such a genius... I didn't think there was any way he could rival the original "Harold and the Purple Crayon", but this is just as charming and imaginative. My 2.5 year old loves the Harold books. (Check out Harold's ABC book too... does not disappoint either!)

- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2018Decades ago I used to go to the library as a little kid and check out the Harold books over and over. I was really glad to find that they are still available, and got a couple of different ones for my grandchildren. Those stories just work great for a kid’s imagination, which can be limitless as Harold’s crayon!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the original
Although this book has the cute little boy and some of the great double meanings with his drawings as well as the wonderful innocence of the premise it just doesn't come together like 'Harold's Purple Crayon'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable
Wonderful imaginative text. Allows for own ideas to take the story on and on and on. Made purple playdough to made the pictures in the book, and a few of our own.
Suitable for anyone interesting in being creative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Encourages development of children's imaginations
Fantastic series of books - this one is surprising and funny, and my 7 & 5 year olds still like it one year on, and still marvel at his ability to create his own reality. Great for explaining that they can determine their own dreams, and steer their imaginations away from scary thoughts.
