    Quick summary: retro, full of ads, locked up machine

    Downloaded this onto fire TV for a bit of retro frogger style action.
    Good things: Firstly I'll say the graphics are nice with a lego/minecraft vibe and the kids loved both gameplay and the sound effects (especially poopy pigeon). Secondly there are a large choice of characters to play with - but they mostly just amount to a different 'skin'.

    However......
    The adverts for in-app purchases are disgusting in their frequency - pretty much after every 2 or three deaths you will get an ad trying to sell you a different skin for 63p or a piggy bank for 3.50. Given that you usually die inside a minute at the start you are receiving over 40 ads an hour.
    Yes you can get skins by winning coins and then using them to win a random one but even that is configured to annoy as you get messages saying 'next bonus in 30' - doesn't actually say 30 what. It's not games, nor seconds of gameplay and the machine can give you duplicates when you get to use it..

    I'll also mention that it locked up on the Fire TV - fully working except for no main character, movement or response to any control apart from exiting. Uninstalled game at that point.

    If you don't mind the hard sell, you'll get some short term enjoyment

    Crossy road is a fabulous game, it doesn't need Wi-Fi to play and you can get loads of characters. The only downside is that I don't like it were you have to pay for certain characters. But, over all, it is a great game.
