I'm a mom, but there is an unmistakable truth in what DadAndBuried has been sharing for years -- this stuff is hard, but you don't have to do it alone.

I've been a fan of Mike's Instagram page for a few years now and what drew me in was his humour, which always seems to hit when the going gets tough. This same humour -- self-deprecating, but with a sharp wit -- carries through his book of parenting triumphs and challenges. And as all parents know, the challenges are many.

Congrats to Mike on his first book! I'll definitely be picking up a new copy for any new dads in our circle.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own

I am not male, nor do I have children. I felt this book was rather entertaining and reminded me a lot of my friends who are fathers. I think they will find Dad Truths just as entertaining as I did.

Parenting is great...but it can also be mind-numbing and ridiculously hard. Very few parenting books admit this, but Mike's book is different. It's not that he hates his kids or hates being a parent, it's that sometimes we all miss the person we used to be as we struggle to incorporate this new, all-encompassing identity into our old one. This book is easy-to-read, sarcastic, hilarious, and genuinely funny. Because the author is all of those things, too. The perfect gift for new parents.

Instant classic. Yeah it was laugh out loud funny, but it was often spot on with the the challenges we face as parents (right from day 1, like, they just let you walk out of the hospital with this thing????). Loved the combo of laughs/advice/heart. Bonus is that it’s really well-written: better than it has a right to be for a fun book about parenting misadventures? A great gift.

As a parent of a 6 and 8 year old, and also a follower of Dad and Buried this was an enjoyable and relatable read. Too many parenting books are either overly optimistic or all about “solving problems”. But sometimes you just want to know that it’ll all be ok and you’re not the only one. This is a nice easy read that accomplishes just that.

Also Mom and Buried is a saint.

Excellently written. Comprehensive. Encouraging yet brutally honest and above all: hilarious. Perhaps the greatest gift of all time for a new parent.
