Mombasa Sports Club

Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) is multi-sport club based in Mombasa, Kenya. It also owns sporting facilities. The club was established in 1896, and it is among the oldest sporting clubs in Kenya.

Cricket

Mombasa Sports Club has a cricket team taking part in the Coast Cricket Association competitions.

Cricket ground

The Mombasa Sports Club ground is the only fully accredited ODI Cricket ground in Kenya outside of Nairobi. Its acquired this status prior to hosting a three match ODI series between Kenya and Bermuda as well as a triangular ODI Tournament featuring Kenya, Canada and Scotland, in 2006. Providing all the cricket for Ireland's tour of the country in 2012, this venue has hosted fifteen international fixtures (twelve ODI and three T20I), also six first-class matches (initially in 1964) and 22 List A matches.

Hockey

The club has field hockey sections for men and women. In 2008, MSC ladies team plays in 1st level National league, while their men counterparts play in the premier league. In 2011, the Men's team finishes a top their National League and get promoted to the Premier League. In 2012, in their first year, they finish 9th out of 12 teams and ensure Kenya Hockey Premier League survival for the 2013 Season ahead of regulars; Mvita XI, Karate Axiom and Western Jaguars. The term athletics club is sometimes used for a general sports club, rather than one dedicated to athletics proper.

April 25 Sports Club (Chosŏn'gŭl: 4.25체육단; Hanja: 4.25體育團) or April 25 Sports Team, known as 4.25 or April Twenty-Five is a multi-sports club in North Korea.

April 25 Sports Club has one of the most successful football clubs in the country with over 10 wins in the DPR Korea League Cup. The club's name of April 25 comes from Military Foundation Day and the club belongs to the Korean People's Army.

April 25 Sports Club's rival is Pyongyang City Sports Club. Both teams' Pyongyang Derby football match is very popular in North Korea.

Basketball

April 25 has fielded a basketball team. In May 2015, they came to Mongolia to assist in training the Mongolian national team as preparation of the latter's campaign at the 2013 East Asian Basketball Championship.

Mombasa

Mombasa (/məmˈbɑːsə/; Kenyan English: [mɔmˈbɑːsə]) is a city on the coast of Kenya. It is the nation's second-largest city, after the capital Nairobi, with an estimated population of 1.2 million people in 2014. Administratively, Mombasa is the capital of Mombasa County, whose current governor is Hassan Ali Joho.

A regional cultural and economic hub, Mombasa has an extra-large port and an international airport, and is an important regional tourism centre. Located on the east coast of Kenya, in Mombasa County and the former Coast Province, Mombasa's situation on the Indian Ocean made it a historical trading centre, and it has been controlled by many countries because of its strategic location.

Description

The city had a population of 939,370 per the 2009 census. It is located on Mombasa Island and sprawls to the surrounding mainlands. The island is separated from the mainland by two creeks: Tudor Creek and Kilindini Harbour. It is connected to the mainland to the north by the Nyali Bridge, to the south by the Likoni Ferry, and to the west by the Makupa Causeway, alongside which runs the Kenya-Uganda Railway. The port serves both Kenya and countries of the interior, linking them to the ocean. The city is served by Moi International Airport located in the northwest mainland suburb of Chaani.

1428 Mombasa

1428 Mombasa, provisional designation 1937 NO, is a large asteroid from the outer region of the asteroid belt, about 57 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered by English-born South African astronomer Cyril Jackson at Union Observatory, Johannesburg on 5 July 1937.

The X-type asteroid orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.4–3.2 AU once every 4 years and 9 months (1,724 days). Its orbit shows an eccentricity of 0.14 and is tilted by 17 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic. It has a rotation period of about 17 hours and a very low albedo of between 0.01 and 0.04, according to the surveys carried out by IRAS, Akari, WISE and NEOWISE.

The minor planet was named after Mombasa, chief-port on the coast of Kenya and its second largest city.
