Top 10 JIRA Alternatives: Which Project Management Solution Is Best For You?

Most of you probably appreciate the numerous collaboration benefits JIRA has to offer. At the same time, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution that will cater to everyone’s unique business requirements, hence, you may be looking for options. This guide on the top 10 Jira alternatives should be of help.

Having good project management programs is crucial in accomplishing projects on time and within the allocated budget. That’s why organizations using efficient processes are more likely to be successful in their project delivery. In a visualization by Raconteur, 65% of the components of successful projects for PMOs (project management office) has a tool in place.

Jira features are known to be reliable and intuitive. The software has become extremely popular in recent years, and it is no wonder that it appears on all popular platforms and it is recommended by all reputed industry specialists. Nevertheless, in the world of large and remote teams with diverse collaboration needs, it is quite difficult to speak of a single “perfect software.” That’s why it is desirable to have a few JIRA alternatives up your sleeve, especially when operating in highly specialized industries where standardized solutions simply won’t do.

There are many scenarios, however, in which JIRA would fit seamlessly. It serves startups and large enterprises equally well, supports all devices, and offers flexible deployment options. Setup is accomplished instantly. It allows customization and agility suitable for both techies and non-techies. The Atlassian product’s advanced workflow engine and flexible insight dashboards offer a refined and professional user experience. Equally important, the need to use third-party collaboration software is eliminated.

In short, JIRA makes it possible to:

  • Communicate via several different channels
  • Customize and use powerful workflows
  • Add unlimited custom fields
  • Detect defects and fix them
  • Work on wallboards and interactive dashboards
  • Administer your own security
  • Report on team activity
  • Integrate it with a number of third-party business systems

The software is also up for better features. Atlassian has just launched an updated version of the Jira Software this year, TechCrunch reported. It is redesigned from the back-end all the way to the user experience to offer more functionality. For instance, with admin permission, workflows are more flexible and allow teams more autonomy.

For a system to be qualified as a decent JIRA alternative, it has to have roughly identical features or go off the hook with unique functionalities that can help your business grow even faster. If you believe JIRA is not suitable enough, or perhaps too pricey for the context of your business endeavor, one of these top 10 Jira alternatives may suit you. We also recommend that you check out project management software reviews to learn more about the software, its features, benefits, and top products.

Sid Weber says:

I don’t know that other types of companies have been using Jira outside of software dev. Jira has been a great help for us streamlining how we address issues in our software development projects.

On the other hand, I have never heard of other so-called project management applications give Jira a competition in the software industry. Perhaps I am wrong. We love Jira though, but we’d be happy to consider alternatives that are positioned to the unique needs of software dev teams.

Can anyone here be of help pointing to me anything that I’d probably missed?

Coming from a small advertising firm that’s trying to maintain a good share of our side of the market in Philly, we are extremely happy with our project management tool monday.com. Before that, we have been using another app that was basically frowned on by our users. It’s not that the first one was not helping us but aside from that, it’s not much fun for our operators to use.

We wanted to keep our “artsy” (not antsy of course) users happy so we went shopping. Jira was a good candidate as was Workamajig. But monday.com really caught our eyes because of the colors we saw right away. But would it work?

It turned out it did splendidly. Our processes are pretty much covered, not as complicated as they are though. The other procedures that are not there we simply created and customized as we saw fit.

Eight months later our users are still happy with our choice. We will see how it would pan out time ahead.

Randy Sinclair says:

Our not so startup company is moderately seeing a spike in business and I am currently deliberating with my partners about investing in software like Jira. Coming from piles of Excel sheets, we basically have no idea how to proceed.

Asking around, we have received suggestions ranging from enterprise resource planning solutions to process management programs. We did check and were promptly dropped to the floor by the eye-watering subscription or outright license pricing. Why, we almost feel like we’re acquiring any of those in exchange for our business!

Then somebody mentioned monday.com. After checking the vendor up, we thought it’s what we need. While we feel the subscription plans are justifiable, we factored in the fact that none of us is an expert with this or any similar application.

To cut the long story short, we settled for Jira because the pricing is a steal and it compares well to monday in the visual appeal department. So far we are still taking notes on our project management software journey. Once we’re done with it, we might consider other options later.
