"Cleansing" is probably the best album to come from this band
masterminded by Tommy Victor, with "Whose Fist is This Anyway?", "Snap
Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck", "Cut-Rate", and "No Question" being solid
tracks, even if it does wear thin towards the second half of the disc
and some of the songs outstay their welcome. Despite that, Prong was
just one of the many ignored and underrated bands that deserved
attention while pretenders like Korn and Limp Bizkit blew up, and if
your a fan of Pantera, Slayer, Helmet, or COC, then you should
definitely give Prong a try.

On Prove You Wrong Prong began to allow a little more melody to
trickle into their depressing urban noisescapes, but the album lacks
some of the spark which made the band's breakthrough, Beg to Differ, so
surprising. The trio gets right down to business with brutal opener
"Irrelevant Thoughts," its tribal drumming and supersonic guitar effects
literally stomping on the listener's brain. "Positively Blind," "Hell
if I Could," and the title track are scathing attacks on the emerging
Generation X complacency, and the latter's riff is a wonderfully
perverted twist on Led Zeppelin's "Celebration Day."

Prong's CLEANSING is the definitive Prong album, and with cuts like
"Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck", Prong defined the importance of
metal in the rock genre. No one had any doubt that CLEANSING was a
powerful record, complete with heavy riffs, first-rate drumwork, and
throbbing and tuneful bass. If you thought Prong could not match that
album, RUDE AWAKENING is nearly just like it's predecessor: heavy,
uncompromising metal that's in-your-face and downright brutal. Although
some of the album doesn't seem as heavy, the production work of Terry
Date only helps to intensify Tommy Victor's guitar.
