Cindy's Cafe

When Cindy was a girl her step mom forced her to clean the house as a way to belittle her in favor of her own two daughters. Though she resented that kind of work at the time, she later grew to respect it, and even developed a strong work ethic and attention to detail because of it. When she decided to start her own business "Cindy's Cafe," all of that experience proved invaluable. She found herself again scrubbing counters and sweeping floors but this time it was invigorating. This time she was working to make her dream come true.

I wanted to do a pinup and got this idea to use the Cinderella archetype as a way to flip the idea of menial labor being demeaning on its head and instead to celebrate it as being part of a strong work ethic especially for self-starters.

"Daddy!!!" A TMNT Tribute

The thing about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that I never see referenced is that Splinter was essentially a single dad raising four rambunctious boys and that could NOT have been easy. So this piece titled "Daddy!!!" is my tribute to the first super heroes I ever became a fan of, to single dads everywhere, and to anyone who's ever burned a pizza in the oven.

"The Pirate & The Mermaid"

"The Pirate & The Mermaid" This is a visual development piece from a new story I am working on by the same name. Inspired by the idea that you don't get to pick the person you fall in love with, this scene shows one of the many daily lessons of a Spanish pirate teaching his Mermaid love how to read.

"You Got This"

"You Got This" Your heart's beating so fast it feels like it's about to explode. And now your right knee's shaking? Wait. Why's your knee shaking? Oh my god! Can they see it? Just keep walking toward the mic. It won't be so obvious then. Just don't drop your pick cause your hands are really sweaty. Crap! What if my fingers slip? What if I forget the chords? You need to stop, ok? Take a deep breath. Breathe. C'mon, you've practiced this a million times. You know the words. You know the chords. This is what you were born to do. You got this!

"Starman" - A tribute to David Bowie

There's a "Starman" waiting in the sky. He'd like to come and meet us but he thinks he'd blow our minds. In honor of David Bowie who left us one year ago today but also left us his music to forever live on in a wave of phase.

"Tina & Louise"

"Tina & Louise" - Been a huge Bob's Burgers fan for years now, but I don't know why I just now got the idea to combine it with the iconic 90s movie "Thelma & Louise" (which I also love). I'm not sure how well known that movie is nowadays, but I'd be really curious to see the overlap between Bob's Burgers fans and people at least familiar with it. Either way at least I finally got the inspiration to do a tribute piece for one of my favorite shows of all time!

Goodbye 2016

With 2016 almost over here in the US I thought I'd take this opportunity to thank you all for allowing me to share my art with you. I pretty much just draw and paint the things that I want to see in the world, so I never take it for granted when others enjoy the same geeky/silly/artistic viewpoints that I've illustrated :) Here's my 2016 Best Nine compiled from my Instagram and now to see what 2017 will bring! I know at least one thing that'll come next year and here's a hint: Cowabunga, dude! And to all of you reading this may your 2017 be the most awesomest ever!

Christmas in the Sand

"I love Christmas in the snow, but 'Christmas in the sand' don't end. I tell you that's where it's at" :) When I first heard "Christmas in the Sand" by the awesomely talented Colbie Caillat a few years ago it instantly became one of my favorite Christmas songs ever. Her soft voice over those warm chords is just such a perfect combination to represent that Christmas feeling in a more tropical setting, so it was equally fun to try and capture that in a visual. Happy Christmas weekend, everyone!

"You've Got Me?!? Who's Got You?"

"You've got me? Who's got you?" 'Member when a scene in a Superman movie could be charming and make you smile? I honestly don't know what inspired the motivation behind this other than a few weeks ago I just randomly remembered the scene from the 1978 "Superman" movie where Superman first saves Lois and how much I loved the little bit of humor in it. Not sure how much 'demand' there is for retro Superman art LOL but I had to draw it out more for my own sake than anyone else's. Happy Monday!

Happy Father's Day Eve with "Con Dad"

Happy Father's Day Eve! One of the funnest things about doing conventions is seeing all the different kinds of people that come up to my booth including the parent/kid combos. This piece entitled "Con Dad" combines the more modern day younger 'Geek Dads' that I've seen at cons with the age old tradition of dads being the default pack mules everywhere they go. To all the dads both young and old, may your backs remain strong! Happy Father's Day 2016!

"Good Evening, Miss Lane" - Superman Tribute in the Style of Disney Legend Eyvind Earle

"Good Evening, Miss Lane" - My tribute to the iconic interview scene from the original Superman film inspired by the aesthetic of Disney legend Eyvind Earle. Considering most of Mr. Earle's work is of nature with virtually no architecture, it was definitely a challenge extrapolating his design language from those beautiful landscapes into what could potentially be an animated Metropolis. Up, up and away!

"Small Dogs" Is Going To Press

"SMALL DOGS" Update: I'm happy to say that earlier this week I was able to sign off on the new patch proofs I received from the printer which means that "Small Dogs" is going to press! Yup, after a few rounds of adjusting the color settings, I can finally get the book printed at the quality I wanted. I'll be obtaining all the other cool rewards for my Kickstarter backers in the mean time but if you'd still like a copy, you'll now be able to get one after I receive them. THANK YOU to those of you who supported the campaign and made this possible!

It's also got a bunch of little nods that any true Batman fan will appreciate like shark repellant spray, Wayne Tower, and even the infamous Bat nipples. Will be available on my online store soon!

"Standby Me" Series 02 - Bad Girl Edition

Don't you just hate it when your friend keeps checking her mirror instead of paying attention to you? I felt inspired recently to do another pairing of my Disneybounding series "Standby Me" but this time with a bad girl twist. Here's a modern take on The Evil Queen from "Snow White" and Lady Tremaine aka the wicked stepmother from "Cinderella."

The Boys of Steel Are Back In Town

The boys are back in town! The boys are back in town! This is my tribute to the Supermen of media, to the different yet iconic live action incarnations of Superman throughout the ages. Who’s your favorite? There are even a few little easter eggs for all my fellow diehard Supes fans. Here's to Batman v. Superman! Also I've been super busy (pun intended) getting ready for WonderCon this weekend where this print will debut so I hope those of you going will stop by. Thanks for all the support!
