The Mynah Birds - Go On and Cry
The Mynah Birds ~ The Lost Recordings (1966)
“The Mynah Birds were a R&B band based in Toronto, Ontario in the 1960s. Although the band never released an album, it is famous as one of the earliest efforts of a number of musicians who went on to be hugely successful, including Rick James and Neil Young, as well as Bruce Palmer (Buffalo Springfield). These recordings were thought to be lost but resurfaced a few years ago.”

I am heading to North Carolina for the Week to visit my brother. This is the first of a couple of Queued Posts that I have set up for your edification.

Neil Young - Come On Baby Let’s Go Downtown
(Tonight’s The Night)Of all the ancient song-gods of the boomer years, secret Canadian Neil Young is said to be the one most worshipped by the OG indie-rockers we know and love. Everyone from Franky Black to Westerberg to Mark Arm to Yngwie Malmsteen wanted to be Neil Young when they grew up, and for a long time I just couldn’t understand why. I studied my Harvests and Gold Rushes and that one that sounds like the title of a Modest Mouse album and (aside from Mascis’s leisurely meowl) I couldn’t hear a thing that translated to that fuzzy Gen-X goodness.
Then one day I heard Tonight’s The Night, and it all made sense.
Also Zuma.

There’s video footage taken at the same time of them playing the song Alabama that, if you haven’t seen it, will blow your mind.
