Punjabi Dhabha

Punjabi Dhabha

Punjabi Dhabha is an Indian restaurant located at the Fifth Wheel Truck Stop at 3767 S Golden State Blvd off of Highway 99 just south of Fresno.
A Punjabi dhabha (or "dhaba") is a roadside restaurant in the Indian subcontinent. They are on highways, generally serve local cuisine, and also serve as truck stops.
Punjabi Dhabha's customers are mostly truck drivers of Punjabi descent. For this reason, the food and setting will be authentic Punjabi, and not fusion or Americanized cuisine. While you eat, television sets on the walls will be running Indian shows.

What makes fry pies "Okie"? The buttermilk biscuit dough. The dough is stuffed with savory and sweet fillings (from peach to chicken pie), then fried in a skillet. Outside the markets sits a Tom Joad-style battered pick up truck.

Murray Family Farms also has an animal garden and special events such as "Easter at the Farm" and seasonal fests (e.g., Berry Fest, Cherry Fest). The website lets you know what is in season:

Bravo Farms

Bravo Farms

Interesting Outdoor Artifacts
Bravo Farms has three locations: Kettleman City, Traver, and Tulare. All three are good family-friendly pit stops. We stopped at the Bravo Farms in Traver (Highway 99 between Visalia and Kingsburg). The shop offers an assortment of regional products--nuts, dried fruits, ice cream (Rosa's), honey and jams, fudge and candies, veggie chips and dried veggie snacks--but the leader item are the cheese from the Vintage Cheese Company (samples available). The Vintage Cheese Company Plant is part of Bravo Farms, and customers can often watch the cheeses being made.

Bravo Farms also has a wine bar and "Wild Jacks," a Tex-Mex restaurant that also has an outside barbecue stand and picnic area. There is a petting zoo for kids, play areas, and interesting outside artifacts. The shop also sells novelty gifts.
