PDFfiller: Increasing Security & Improving Accessibility through Platform Independence

Boris Shakhnovich, President
Today, mobile and cross-platform compatibility has increased growth in the number of smartphones and tablet users. People work on their own devices in workspace and companies are shifting from analog paper to digital documents. “Even after taking the digital plunge, organizations face the difficulty of aggregating electronic documents in a single place,” says Boris Shakhnovich, President, PDFfiller.

Addressing those challenges with a single solution, PDFfiller provides a comprehensive online document management platform with the services of an online editor, cloud storage platform, and a signature request manager all in one package. It supports all the major mobile platforms with a fully functional iOS app, and a Mobile Browser application that works on any mobile device. “Our cloud service provides unparalleled convenience, accessibility, and platform independence,” says Shakhnovich.

In today’s economy, cloud services are gaining momentum and flexibility. “At PDFfiller, we integrate with major cloud storage providers and document editing solutions, so it’s easy to import documents from Google Docs, Office365, and DropBox,” explains Shakhnovich. After importing, a multitude of tools allow users to edit their documents. PDFfiller’s Signature tool has the ability to capture signatures from different devices like a mouse, keyboard and smartphone. Customers can even capture written signatures with a camera. “Our customers can work with up to 10 people in real-time, or can create their own signature workflows,” he says.

While platform independence ensures PDFfiller’s flexibility, online security is another company strength. In the past years the company has developed measures to give data protection on a par with online financial institutions. Security features include two-factor authentication login, password-protected document storage, and an audit trail where every document and account action is noted.

“A person can see who opened the document, who signed it, when and where it was it done, and what computer was used. Organizations can even require a signatory to authenticate their signature via video,” points out Shakhnovich.

In one particular case, a District Court in Saginaw County wanted a better way to obtain judges’ signatures for drunk driver blood search warrants. The Saginaw County Blood Search Warrant Project implemented a new and improved system that streamlined the after-hours process for filling, sending, and signing warrant forms. “A police officer uses PDFfiller on a laptop to fill a warrant form and send it for signature to an on-call judge. The judge in turn uses PDFfiller on an Apple iPad to add a signature, and then emails the form back to the police officer,” states Shakhnovich.

“It's the relentless focus on the customer that has helped us innovate in both features and capability. We are planning to develop the ability to auto-populate and extract data for analysis and are also building an Android App,” says Shakhnovich. The company rolls out new updates on a weekly basis to provide customers with all the latest features.

A tool that fits easily into your workflow, rather than having you adjust your workflow around the limitations of the application

Shakhnovich plans to make PDFfiller a platform that does anything that you can do with paper. “PDFfiller is a tool that fits easily into your workflow, rather than having you adjust your workflow around the limitations of the application,” concludes Shakhnovich.
