Princess Anne's Husband Gives Health Update Following Suspected Horse-Related Incident

Princess Anne, 73, has been in the hospital ever since she was injured at her Gatcombe Park home over the weekend.

Sir Timothy Laurence has given a new update on Princess Anne amid her ongoing hospital stay after she was injured in what appeared to be a horse-related incident over the weekend. 

After visiting his wife in the hospital on Wednesday, June 26, Sir Tim was approached outside of the medical facility by reporters who wanted to know how the Princess Royal is doing. 

"How's your wife, Sir? Is she doing well?" someone called out to Sir Tim in a video shared to X (formerly Twitter) by ITV's Chris Ship. 

Sir Tim, 69, responded by sharing that his wife is "recovering slowly." 

"Do you expect her out today, Sir?" someone else shouted to Sir Tim as he approached his vehicle, to which he replied, "She'll be out when she's ready." 

It's been three days since Anne was hospitalized as a result of the incident, which occurred at her country home on Sunday, June 23. 

"The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening," read a statement from Buckingham Palace on Monday. "Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery." 

"The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery," the statement continued. 

Sir Timothy—who has been married to the royal since 1992—said Anne was "recovering well," in an update earlier this week, where he gave a shoutout to the "emergency services who were all so wonderful at the scene" on Sunday. 

The exact details of the accident are still unclear, and according to The Telegraph, Anne has been dealing with temporary memory loss, making it more difficult to ascertain what exactly occurred. Previous reports attributed to her medical team suggested that "her head injuries are consistent with a potential impact from a horse's head or legs," although that has yet to be officially confirmed. 

Anne has consequently had to cancel her upcoming royal engagements, and has sent "her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result," according to a palace spokesperson.
