- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2024Color: Satin NickelSize: TouchscreenConfiguration: No KeyVerified PurchaseSo far I have really liked this lock and it has functioned flawlessly. I like that it is a one press lock and you don't have to enter the code to lock. The lock moves smoothly with no issues. The zwave functionality has been working well for the most part. It is directly connected to Smartthings with no issues, but I also have it connected to Home Assistant (via ST). Whenever HA restarts it always thinks the lock is unlocked even though it is not. That is not a lock issue, just mentioning for others that may be looking for a HA integration. With that said though, these locks do seem to be overpriced for what they are. A simple combo powered lock runs less than $50 these days, not sure why manufacturers think the zwave connection part is worth another $100.

Bought a broken lock. The only good news after Yale technical support confirmed that the lock was defective was that I could tell my wife that I wasn't installing it incorrectly and that we didn't need to hire a handyman to properly replace the door lock/emasculate me. That made me feel good...for like a second, until she lambasted me for buying a "refurbished" item to save like $20. But, I mean, $20 is $20, and if I buy like 25 more "refurbished" items that would almost pay for her next round of botox. So in actuality, I wasn't being cheap, I was being selfless and putting the needs of my wife ahead of my own. Personally, I think that makes me a hero; however, my wife doesn't quite see it that way...but of course, she injects a neurotoxin directly into her face each year which may affect her judgement and therefore I am going to side with myself on this one. Now if you'll excuse me, there's a couch that needs sleeping on.
Long story short, I got sold a broken item and it doesn't appear that Amazon will let me return it because I didn't try to install it until after my return window had closed. :(
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2021Color: Satin NickelSize: TouchscreenConfiguration: With KeyVerified PurchaseThe lock itself is very well constructed, solid, streamlined, and very attractive. Installation was a breeze, and everything went together perfectly, until...
Connecting the lock to my Abode security hub has not gone well at all. I cannot count he innumerable number of attempts I've made to get this thing integrated into the system so that I can control it remotely via my phone. it came with no instructions, everything must be found on your own online, which means you better know exactly what you're looking for, and how to find it.
Following both the locks instructions on pairing (which is brief) AND Abodes instructions it seemed pretty straight forward, but still has not worked after two weeks of trying. Upon reaching out to both Abode and Yale, they each directed me back to the other for possible resolution. I believe I may have a faulty Z-Wave module that came with the lock, so I will be reaching out to Yale or the seller about that.
Being a techie myself, ironically I am not a fan of all of this connectivity. It seems to cause more problems than it claims to solve, and you spend more time working to debug, repair, reboot, reset, troubleshoot, and being on the web/phone with tech support, etc than you do actually using any of it for the "convenience" it's all supposed to provide. Quality customer service is a toss of the dice, and everyone nowadays is pretty much expected to be a low level programmer to use any of it.
I will update my review once progress has, or has not been made.
Update: Abode finally admitted the lock was incompatible with thier system although it was listed on thier own website as being compatible (and why I bought it). After A LOT of angry squeaky wheeling, I was able to return the lock and get a refund. It should not have been so difficult or taken so long to do so regardless.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2023Color: Satin NickelSize: TouchscreenConfiguration: No KeyVerified PurchaseI literally bought 2 of these (Yale Assure Lock SL) because I though the first one must be defective. But no, it just does not work. First of all, the instructions are unclear as to WHICH Yale app to even install (because there are several). Once I installed Yale Access, it asks me to scan a QR code. THERE IS NO QR code. Well, that's not true. There is one QR code on the PCB circuit board, but that's not the one it wants. Alternatively, it asks for the serial number. There is a barcode (not QR), but of course the app is not smart enough to scan it. But it does allow you to manually enter the serial number. Unfortunately, once entered, the app cannot find any device matching that serial number. Next, there is an option to skip the serial number altogether and add a device by type. The Yale app actually doesn't have a full listing of exact product models to choose from. The closest item in the list was "Yale Assure Lock". Once selecting that, it tries to scan for the device. Of course it cannot find it. I factory reset the lock and re-established a master code and tried again. I also tried by going into options 7, then 1 and scan with the app WHILE the lock is in network mode. No difference. I tried another app: Samsung SmartThings. This app actually has a full listing of Yale products, including an option for "Yale Assure Lock SL". However, SmartThings cannot see the device either. I watched a YouTube video of someone going through the EXACT steps to detect this lock on SmartThings and my locks simply cannot be detected. Remember, I purchased TWO of these. Neither can be detected. This product is total garbage. Even if it did work, which it does not, the Yale app is terrible, unintuitive, and should be completely redesigned. I am so pissed at this company. The actual physical part of the lock works fine and functions well. However, the product I purchased is supposed to be usable with my smart home app, and that is where the problems come in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really great lock.
Color: Oil Rubbed BronzeSize: TouchscreenConfiguration: With KeyVerified PurchaseI have been using this lock for almost 2 years now.
It is on the main door of the house so it is used many times a day.
The first time I had to change the batteries was after about 22 months of use.
Being Z-wave I have been able to integrate it in to my home automation setup and it works well, but I like that it will also work in its own without joining the z-wave network.
Recently we had temperatures in the 40 degrees Celsius range and this lock is on a south facing wall that has no shade or protection from the sun. It performed perfectly without issue.
In the direct sun it is a bit hard to see the blue numbers on the keypad but you can still see them. You just have to hold your hand up to shade the number pad.
If I had more doors where I could use these locks, I would buy one for each door.
You need a door that is ONLY locked by a deadbolt. If you have a deadbolt AND a door handle lock, then you will have to leave the door handle unlocked to get much use out of this in any sort of home automation setup.
I like that I can unlock my door to let people in no matter where I am (at work for example) and the lock it again when they leave. Family can drop off or pick stuff up without having to leave the items outside.
Good quality hardware and motor. The finish on it is really nice. Blends in with my other hardware well.
After two years of daily use, the lock still looks brand new. No ware and tear that I can see.
I could go on, but you get the idea.

1.0 out of 5 stars It’s awful
Color: Black SuedeSize: TouchscreenConfiguration: With KeyVerified PurchaseI’ve had this a few years. It’s awful. I have tried to like it as they are expensive. The deadbolt always goes into the locked position when you walk by the door causing it to bang into your door casing. It won’t actually lock however when you want it too easily. The screen is very difficult to turn on to key in your pin. It’s also very evident because of the touch screen what 4 numbers get pushed for the pin. I have used a lot of similar locks. This one is an awful experience and very frustrating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product. Easy to setup and work well with Hubitat ZWave Hub.
Color: Satin NickelSize: TouchscreenConfiguration: With KeyVerified PurchaseThe is the 2nd Yale Zwave deadbolt that I bought. The first one (RYD210) was bought back in 2011 and it is still work well. I replace it because the color on the outside is all dull due to 12 years weather exposure. This touchscreen one look much more luxurious and I like the voice instruction is very convenience. Also the sound effort is much soft. But other than that, the installation design and functions are all pretty much sme as 12 years ago. And work just the same. Fairly reliable with few issues that can be resolved by completely reset and reprogram. The only thing lack is the random code feature that Kiwkset/Weiser has so people cannot see your finger print to guest your code.
