'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?

ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.

When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.

ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. If you see inaccuracies in our content, please report the mistake via this form.

I'll be the first to admit: I'm a streaming enthusiast. So much, in fact, that when I'm not testing out the latest TVs, I'm catching up on the latest shows and movies (cue the 6-hour countdown until I can stream "The Mandalorian") or revisiting old comforts like my all-time fav "Parks and Recreation."

Further ZDNET Tech Coverage

If you're unsure of what to watch this March, or are trying to recall who is dropping what, fear not. Last month promised a lot of great content but this is the month of the action-packed series that will leave you texting your friends and posting about that (spoiler-free) moment in "Succession."

This month, it's not so much what's premiering from films as it what TV shows are dropping to compete with each other for your attention -- and my goodness, are there plenty! No matter what streaming service you're subscribed to (or if you're getting rid of Netflix due to the new password policy), there's something out there for everyone. From galaxies far, far away to places a little closer to home like New York, there's something for everyone on this list.

A wise person once said to beware the Ides of March -- but this year I can't wait because it's the day Season 3 of Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso drops. The award-winning series will consist of 12 episodes, so you'll have plenty of time to catch up on the spoiler-free chaos of that season 2 finale.

If you missed out on Luther's adventures, catch up now before this hit film continues the series on Netflix. I won't spoil it for those who have been waiting for this movie for years, but you can expect twists, turns, and more from the character that nabbed Idris Elba not one but four Emmy nods for his portrayal of John Luther.

Succession has swept at the most of the awards ceremonies and with good reason. It's Logan Roy's world and we're all just along for the ride -- and the constant backstabbing, treachery, and plotting that comes along with the high stakes corporate world of Waystar Royco. Stream one of the best series of the 2020s ahead of the March 26 premiere date on HBO Max.

Before Bridgerton left us swooning for more soirees and seasons, there was another sweet regency TV drama that received such a following it received a two-season renewal post-cancellation. Cue "Sanditon," based on the half-finished Jane Austen novel. Charlotte Heywood heads to the seaside resort of Sanditon, where big ideas -- and romance -- await. The final season drops weekly episodes on my personal favorite darling streaming service, PBS Passport.

Start streaming for only $5 per month.

Miss Grogu? Me too. While Pedro Pascal is wrapping up his time on "The Last of Us," you can catch him pre-apocalypse as The Mandalorian. The first two seasons were arguably some of the best television of 2019 and 2020, respectively, and I expect this new season to be at the forefront of everyone's best lists from December 2023.

It's been years since the last season of the hit comedy series, and Henry, Ronald, Casey, and crew are back in LA and churning out the laughs as they navigate life, love, and of course, catering gone wrong. Expect the cutting jokes that you've come to love from this rag-tag gang plus appearances by Jennifer Garner, James Marsden, and more. It may have started streaming on Starz February 24, but I'm just having too great of a time not to add it to the best of March 2023 streaming.

Right now, you can get the streamer for only $5 per month for three months. No code needed.

How did I choose these movies and shows?

I'm obsessed with good TV, and have been since I was old enough to catch "The Simpsons" with my dad and faithfully read all of Roger Ebert's reviews during breakfast. And right now, I'd say we're living in the second golden age of TV because there is so much solid content and (almost) not enough time to catch it all.

As a seasoned binge-watcher, I have spent countless hours watching the latest and greatest and am confident in my ability to recommend must-see titles for your night in front of the TV. I've also personally watched every movie and TV show on the above list and can vouch for how good they are to stream.

That being said, everyone's tastes are different! That's why I've also made sure to include new seasons and old fan favorites on my list, so if you're in the mood for a top-notch action film, I have just the film, or you can head down to a regency-era seaside resort for some gossip-worthy drama.

Are there more movies and shows worth streaming right now?

This month is one of the largest months for streaming to date (we get that it's only March and there are nine months to go, but still). There's a lot to stream, so if you're not feeling any of the picks up above, check out these other picks that deserve honorable mention, and are still top-notch TV and film.
