We're huge Potterheads, so of course we were excited when we found out about this pop-up bar. I expected a little bit more from the decorations, but the Harry Potter medley light show they put on at the bar was pretty cool. Once that part is over though, they go back to playing music that is just a bit too loud.

I was pleasantly surprised by the drinks. They did not skimp on the alcohol.
Butter beer: really creamy and sweet. I love sweet drinks so this hit the spot.
      Unicorn Blood: refreshing spritzer
Polly Potion: quite unique. It contains buzz button flower which is "nature's pop rocks," giving you that tingling sensation.
Nan's Headache Medicine: bartender sets the card on fire, revealing a spell.

We didn't order any food, so can't comment on how that is.

As mentioned by another reviewer, if you buy the $20 ticket ahead of time, you get the butter beer "for free." But when you take a look at the menu, it's actually only $16. So before you buy a ticket, maybe just try to walk in so you're not overpaying for that drink. Drink prices are just a teensy bit more expensive than other bars in SF that I've been to. But hey, you're also paying for the experience.

I'd recommend this place if you're with a group of friends, so you can try to sample all the drinks ;)

Not a big Harry Potter fan but I thoroughly enjoyed Wizards & Wands, a Harry Potter themed bar. This new bar is located right next to Westwood. Make sure you look for a red building because it's kind of easy to miss.

When you enter it's a dimly lit themed bar. The decorations, the music, the presentation and name of the drinks are all on theme. I love Espresso Martinis and they had it on their menu so I had to try. I can confirm that it's one of the best espresso martinis in the city. The presentation is cool as well. They light up a piece of paper attached to the cocktail - all on brand.

I haven't tried the food though so I'll definitely be back next time.

Went for drag brunch with friends. The food was much better than expected after reading some reviews but we also made sure to go to the first sitting of the day. We did try our best to make sure we all knew what we wanted to eat or drink since once the show started service had to slow.

Some of the dancers were more entertaining or lively than others but the way the venue seats people you may miss out. We were sat toward the kitchen and the table next to us blocked the view of activity that mostly happened midway to front of the restaurant. Since we couldn't see we kind of wanted to bounce but they didn't attempt to come with bills until the show was done so we were kind of stuck in the back.

Never fear if you forgot cash you can get faux money from a charge to your card to tip the dancers. Cash is probably easier for all involved.

Overall fun experience, maybe would go back for drinks but probably not as it likely is crowded as a bar.

I enjoy the Harry Potter series but wouldn't personally consider myself a huge fan but when I saw a cute little pop-up ad about this bar on IG - I decided to check this place out! Came here on a Tuesday right when they opened at 5 p.m. so there was no wait which is a plus! It was also easy to find street meter parking around the area :)

The ambience: When you first enter, you'll notice that there are several Harry Potter themed decorations encasing the walls of this dimly-lit bar ie. trains, candles, letters and owl cages hanging on the ceiling along with a huge display of the Great Hall at the Hogwarts castle. The restrooms were probably the most well-lit area of this place and are quite quirky since the design of the doors look like the outside of an Azkaban cell! Overall, 8/10 for decorations and bar layout - though I wish there was a designated area for photo-ops!

The food/ drinks: We ordered the Golden Arancini (Crispy, gold, Parmesan dusted rice balls with the house tomato sauce), Kapfoot's Fish and Chips, Love Potion, and Banana Baby. The Golden Arancini tasted decent, but wasn't anything too special though I did like the gold wing decoration on it. The Kapfoot's Fish and Chips were a bit tough to eat since the fish would break apart pretty easily.. would rather opt for some chicken tenders. I'm a tequila girly so I opted for the Love Potion - the tequila in this drink was a bit strong for me and overpowered the other flavors (hibiscus, mango, citrus agave) but overall not bad. The Banana Baby was filled to the rim with ice :/ wish there was more drink and less ice but the flavors worked well together. I will probably try the ButterBeer next time. We also wanted to try the Naughty Waffle but we were told this was a brunch item and available on the weekends. Overall, 6/10 for food/ drinks.

This is a bar I would recommend you go at least once especially if you are a fan of Harry Potter but I would say the food/ drinks were a bit disappointing. It would be fun if this place also became holiday themed during Halloween and Christmas though!

Although we're not super big Harry Potter fans, we decided to check out Wizards & Wands to explore a new bar in the Marina area. As soon as we walked in we were impressed with the ambiance. From the Harry Potter themed paintings on the walls to the lava-like floor (is that a HP reference?), we immediately felt far removed from Lombard Street.

For the first round, my partner got the Butter Beer while I got the Smoke & Mirrors. I really enjoyed how the Smoke & Mirrors was smoked right at our table, and it had a nice spirit forward and smoky taste. My partner loved the Butter Beer, which was very butterscotch forward as advertised, with a delicious vanilla whipped cream.

For the second round, my partner got the Banana Baby while I got the Liquid Luck. My partner loved the Banana Baby, which almost tasted like a cup of liquid banana bread (in the best way possible) and the Liquid Luck was tasty and refreshing, with a nice hint of citrus and jalapeño.

Wizards & Wands has a fun vibe. It feels like a traditional bar with lots of people and dancing music. It was decorated carefully with a Harry Potter theme. The spot is nice but I feel like they could go more all out with the decorations and Harry Potter themed food. On the weekends they do drag shows, which I would love to come back for!

My friend and I had butter beer which is included in the ticket you bought online. It was very good, much better than Universal Studios plus it has rum! The Cauldron shots were also very good, it tastes like you are taking a shot of chocolate instead of alcohol.
The three-legged dog is a lighter drink with celery and sweet peas, if you are into plant based drinks, this one is for you!

For food, we had the phoenix fries. It comes with a lot of them to share for up to 4 people and they are very good. They have a seasoning on them and it comes with a flavored ranch dip.
We also tried the golden arancini, it comes with four small rice balls and a tomato sauce with cheese. They weren't bad!
We shared an impossible burger, the burger had a flavorful sauce on it but could have been cooked a bit longer.

The host and the female bartenders were very kind and attentive.

Overall this is a fun place to grab a drink, some food and hang out with friends. I will definitely be back!

Super excited to finally cross this off my list. Absolutely the thing for Harry Potter fans to do on a Saturday night. The space is decent, I mean it is a bar in SF. The staff is really friendly and genuinely seem like they enjoy being there which makes the whole experience better.
Ordered the zero proof Butterbeer and the fish and chips. Man I'm telling you right now, whatever you order is good enough for 2 people. These portions are large. I'd rate the food maybe 3/5. I kept burping those fish and chips all night.
We stayed for maybe almost 2 hours. Definitely a must try once at least and a great photo opportunity. I need to come back one more time to get the desserts and bring my best friend. And yes, they do sell wands for an epic duel.

One of the many perks of traveling is getting the opportunity to visit theme bars! While visiting SF, I stopped into Wizards & Wands for drinks with my mister. Once you enter the bar, you're magically transported to the wizarding world of Harry Potter. With Harry Potter theme music playing when you enter the bar, one's gaze goes to the candles floating from the ceiling and the mural of the great hall. This bar is also known for craft cocktails and Harry Potter-themed items on the menu.
      We ordered and enjoyed-
      Polly potion
      Unicorns blood
      Nan's headache medicine
      Smoke and mirrors
The drinks were great! I'd have to say my favorite drink was the smoke and mirrors. The menu items looked delectable, but we were not hungry during our visit. I hope to return to Wizards & wands to try food from their menu. We had excellent service and a magical experience during our visit!

First time coming here and was suprised with a drag show! We went on Sunday around 2pm. I do wish that they updated their Instagram with information so we could have prepared better before going (knowing we wouldn't be able to take as many photos of the decor since it was very focused on the drag show and we didn't want to interrupt).

      Drinks ordered:

Love Potion (9/10): the best looking drink out of all we ordered and the best tasting too. The mango was delicious and refreshing.

Polly Potion (7/10): a decent cocktail but I wish I could taste more pear and yuzu since it was very overpowered by the bourbon.

Irish Coffee (8/10): tasted the alcohol more than the coffee but pretty good. Alcohol was STRONG.

Cauldron Shot (9/10): gets a bit messy drinking out of the small cauldron if you're not careful with it but love the creativity!

The staff were very kind and helpful with choosing drinks as well.

Wizards & Wands had great service - attentive and friendly. We went on a Friday at 6 pm and it was surprisingly empty.

The decor is all Harry Potter themed, which is fun at first, but it felt a little gimmicky overall. They have a lot of big group tables, but for couples or smaller groups, the only option was these really uncomfortable high-top tables with stools that offered zero back support and such tight leg room that my friend ended up standing the whole time.

The food and drinks were a mixed bag. The Butterbeer was decent, with a nice brown butter flavor, although the butterscotch was a bit weak. It ended up tasting mostly like cream soda towards the bottom.

The Cauldron Shot was a total letdown - just a shot of Baileys in a cool-looking cauldron shot glass that's way too wide to comfortably drink from (made for a funny struggle, though!).

The Three-Legged Fox cocktail was a miss for me - tasted more like grass. I gave up after two sips.

The Golden Arancini was okay (at this point, our expectations were quite low), but nothing special.

The Darko's oyster dip was actually quite good, with a rich umami flavor, but the portion size was tiny - barely enough chips to scoop up all the dip. Disappointing value for the price.

Overall, Wizards & Wands seems to prioritize presentation and the "wow factor" over substance. The drinks were uneven, and some were just plain weird, and the food, while okay, wasn't worth the premium price tag. If you're looking for a fun and immersive experience, it might be worth a visit, but for strong cocktails and well-priced bites, I'd look elsewhere.

Wizards & Wands is a great place for Harry Potter fans and those who know little about it. The atmosphere was magical with decorative pieces of Harry Potter, fun signs, drinks, and lively music. It wasn't those tacky bars with a poster and then called it a "theme." This was actually a Harry Potter bar.

There was a time when they played Harry Potter music and it was cool seeing the bar light up when the music started playing. This was a busy Saturday night but we managed to grab a table and enjoyed our drinks.

I've had Butter Beer before at Universal Studios but their Butter Beer included alcohol and it was delicious! Butter Beer $16 included brown butter with rum, butterscotch, vanilla, house cream soda topped with vanilla whip and caramel drizzle. Standard pricing for drinks at bars and the atmosphere made it worth it.

Our server was nice and she accommodated our requests. I would definitely recommend Potter Heads and muggles~!
