UCSF Imaging Center at Montgomery Street offers impeccable patient care. I'm especially thankful for Leonar. Her kindness, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond is exceptional. Leonar knows how to get the job done, quickly and efficiently. Her support speaks volumes and I'm so glad I've been able to work with her on both a professional and personal level. Thanks to Leonar, I'll continue to refer folks here and know they'll gain an excellent patient experience.

This review isn't for the service so much as the cost. $2000 per vaginal pregnancy ultrasound, when the national average hovers around $500.
I moved to SF and found out I was pregnant. I was about 8 weeks and didn't have a doctor here, so my doctor in Chicago referred me to this center for an ultrasound. I called to see if they accepted my insurance, and they said they did.
On the first visit, we didn't hear a heart beat, so naturally scheduled a follow-up for the following week, at which time we did hear one. On both visits, we did not see a doctor, just the technician, who performed the vaginal ultrasound and did not give us much information. She said she would give updates to my doctor in Chicago, who then called us with information.
We switched insurance right after, due to the move and new job, and I found an OB here. At the same time, I got the bill from UCSF--$2K per ultrasound, for a total of $4K. The ultrasound had a bunch of tacked on costs, like doctor's fee (I'm guessing the tech showed it to a doctor there), facility fee, etc. Insurance said they would only cover half of each, so we're paying $2K out of pocket. To make it worse, USCF doesn't have an automated monthly billing option, so I have to log in every month which reminds me (hence this review--I just made a payment!).
When we went to my first OB visit, he was going to perform an ultrasound, but I hesitated and asked how much it would cost. He said even if insurance didn't cover it, the cost would be about $300. (Insurance did cover it).
This is mostly FYI for those of you that may be going there for a basic ultrasound or something, to know about the additional fees that get tacked on, which your insurance may decide not to cover. We would have been better off going to a doctor's office or something without insurance and paying out of pocket, rather than a research hospital/facility that has a lot of additional fees.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Charles H.Berkeley, CA02Dec 9, 2019
Horrifyingly poor patient-empathy. I had to schedule an emergency mammogram (which is scary enough, maybe having breast cancer) and the ladies I spoke to to schedule an appointment were quite bureaucratic and uncaring. They required I fax a detailed and 100% correct order before they would schedule me, and their process took so long that by the time I got the right order in, there were no appointments left this week (it takes 45 minutes for a fax to come through in their system!!!... that's insanely slow. It's 2019 people, how about using email? Or a bit of human connection and heart?)
So now after 90 minutes on the phone with them and my dr office, I need to start from scratch elsewhere. Never coming back here - they treat their patients like just a barcode in their computer systemHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle L.San Rafael, CA35251May 12, 2016
I recently went for my annual mammogram at UCSF Montgomery Street, and have to say, the service was excellent! I started doing some work in SF's waterfront area, so decided to make my appointment based on the convenience of this location and have not been disappointed. Parking was plentiful and it was easy to find.
I should mention, I missed my 9:30 a.m. appointment by 2 hours. The front desk was extremely understanding and made every effort to squeeze me in an hour's wait, same day, even though we were creeping up on the lunch hour. They asked me to wait in their waiting room (which is clean, bright and nicely remodeled, I might add) and got me in within 30 minutes, based on the efficiency of their staff with the patient before me. The mammography tech was gentle and kind and made a process I rather despise, relatively quick and painless. The staff introduced me to UCSFMyChart, which is an easy way to access my own healthcare results online. I will definitely go to this location for my annual exam!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jen G.San Francisco, CA05Nov 16, 2016
I stopped in today, almost as a fluke, to inquire about my nurse practitioner and I was greeted with the most amazing customer service (if you can call it that). Leonor Pedroso-Caballero was at the desk when I arrived and she not only took the time to investigate some information I needed but she was graceful, thorough and insisted on handling my random request. Leonor, you certainly left a great impression on me and meeting you this AM was a great start to my day! Thank you (and should I ever need to see someone in Radiology, you'll be on the top of my list)!

This office will make you feel welcome and well cared for, probably most especially if you're a woman--all your medical needs can be taken care of in one building. The staff is easy to get along with and they make themselves available. Remember what it was like to have a doctor thirty years ago? It's like that--easy.

This is a review for the imaging team, but specifically for Barbara. I arrived and was seen right at my appointment time. I got my ultrasound done by Barbara (stenographer) who was exceptional. She was kind, competent and made my experience very enjoyable. I also noted that she was very well-seasoned at imaging (better than any of the doctors who have done ultrasounds on me). My results for everything arrived at my obgyn office the following day even when i saw them for an end-of-day appointment. I would recommend this location to friends and family.
