Master Mechanics do still exist! Nick helped me with a high performance 383 I build ten years ago and it ended up pulling 489 hp at the wheels! Not only was their knowledge top notch, their customer service was right on! From an open door policy at the shop to my phone calls, they always took the time to answer my questions, research my parts and gave a very fair price for all the work done!
Well done guys!

First I have done business with Rescino Performance before with satisfactory results. In August of 2023 I ordered a Ford small block motor and gave them a $3,100 deposit. They told me the motor would be done in two weeks. Over the next few months I made many calls to find out when the motor would be finished and was always told soon. On 10/27 I visited and was shown a motor they said was mine, still in pieces. I asked for the parts in trade for my deposit and was refused, I asked for my money back and was refused. It is now late December and they have not contacted me despite a registered demand letter. Unfortunately It seems that I will need to sue them for compensation. I have reported them to the Bureau of Automotive repair and am awaiting their investigation. I highly caution anyone to do business with this firm.

Well it happened! After months of each system that Rescino worked on for the rebuild failed today is the day I knew was coming. Full engine failure from there rebuild. Car started knocking and grinding art acceleration popped off the oil filter and metal shavings everywhere in the oil and engine just about at full failure and totally undrivable. About to sue this place into oblivion. See the extra pictures an
Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 2, 2022Previous reviewI would leave zero if I could. Where do I even begin? My engine rebuild with Rescino has been hands down one of the worst experiences of my life and I hope this review can help anyone thinking of using them for a rebuild to run away as fast as you can and save yourself lots of time and lots of money. I dropped my car off to Rescino last September for a full engine rebuild. I was quoted around 3-4 weeks for completion. It was "ready" in January lol. And I say "ready" in qoutation marks for a reason. From last January until today. September 2022 exactly a year since I dropped it I've had to bring it back for various issues and problems 34 different times. In fact I haven't been able to really drive the car at all. I pick it up from them and immediately It dies or pours oil or various other major problems and I bring it right back and they keep it for a couple months and give it back to me exactly the same or in some cases worst. It's broken down on the bay bridge multiple times. I've had to get it towed back 3 different times. It has massive oil leaks and the engine has so much blow by and crankcase pressure it blows the oil filler cap right off when you start it. I've brought it to be examined by multiple mechanics and rebuilders and everyone said it's the worst rebuild they have ever seen and they could not believe there eyes. I told nick Rescino multiple times that the engine needed to come out and be rebuilt. He insisted every time that he could fix the issue by changing gaskets.... They couldn't even put gaskets in correctly btw. They failed to adress a massive exhaust leak they caused by not putting in exhaust manifold gaskets. I brought it back to them for this 4 separate times until finally I had to pay out of pocket to bring it to another shop which got it done in one hour and said they could t believe there eyes. There were missing gaskets and other gaskets just hanging out which was causing exhaust to pour into the car cabin causing an extremely dangerous scenario. They also damaged the exterior of my car multiple times. They knocked off and seemingly stole parts off my car varying from chrome pieces to tools in the back my carburetor various original manuals amongst other things. I gave them an upgraded alternator to put in and they wired it wrong and it blew within a day stranding me. They put in a shitty chrome kit one as a "solution" and charged me 300 dollars for it and it's complete wrong wattage car is underpowered. Finally I gave up. The final straw was I gave it to nick 4 months ago with a report from a classic car shop the did an all points engine inspection. They found that the car had low compression no cylinder blew above 100 when it should have been at least 180-200 it now has worst compression then before I dropped it for rebuild. It has 45 percent piston leak down in every cylinder when it should have zero-5 percent. It has various oil leaks and problems everywhere. Low oil pressure. I paid to have my air conditioning installed and was never done. My dashboard is cracked in half amongst other damages. So after giving nick this report and telling him all of that needs to be addressed and the report straight up says the diagnosis is to pull the engine and rebuild. Nick kept the car for 4 months I asked him if in all that time he rebuilt the engine he said "I tinkered with it here and there I've been busy and short handed. I changed some gaskets" guess what. The car broke down on the way home and poured oil everywhere and would not start again... until this day. It's just sitting in front of my house... dead. So I asked nick for a refund or to pay to have the engine repaired by another rebuilder. He flat out refused. Which was a big mistake. He could have got off with just a repair. I have a lawyer now and am seeking damages etc. I ll see you in court. A word to the wise. Do not go through the year long nightmare that I have been going through with Rescino performance and am still going through. Call Lonnie Jensen. He's going to fix all the damage this place did. I paid Rescino well over 10 grand and have had to spend so much more out of pocket for parts and tows and Ubers this year it has been such a nightmare. And when my car broke down this last time nick just pretty much ignored me. I told him various times that my car was dead and I needed help and nothing. He just got salty with me in returned and asked me if I knew how to drive a carburetored car. I wish I would have done research before my rebuild. Every place I went to adress there work said the same thing. It used to be an amazing shop when the father nick Rescino sr. Ran it but has completely gone to hell since he retired. Literally I heard that from every shop. They never gave me paperwork for the various 34 different times I had to bring it back even when I asked. I hope this review saves someone a lot of hassle. I ll See you in court like many have before.

Can I get a no star review? This place deserves it.

Awesome place for anything car related. They rebuild a lot of v8's. They can work with aluminum or iron blocks. You can rent out their dyno machine but call and schedule prior to going there.

Had a short block assembled here. Ended up needing to take it apart and found the rookie move of hitting the crank journals with the rod bolts. I am sure the owners know what they're doing but some of the guys helping out around the shop don't seem up to par.

Plain and simple - just don't do it. Find someone else to help you with your project. You will be glad you did.

This place is the worst!
Here are a few things about this shop. See my experience below
1. Very Rude
2. Sloppy shop
3. Doesn't explain their service
4. Overpriced
5. Increase prices from original quote
6. Actual techs don't know what they're doing
7. No management oversight
I brought my car here for a dyno tune. I made an appointment for 1:00pm. I had to drop my car off by tow truck 10:30am as they agreed. I walked in the front door and wasn't acknowledged till I said something to the few guy standing around talking, including Mike. James helped me and we parked the car. James said Mike has one car he is starting before mine. He said to come back at 1:00pm for the dyno tune. It went down from there.
I arrived 15 minutes early. Nobody acknowledged me again. I waited in the entry till 1:30. Mike the guy who does the tune came over and said its time. He acted like he couldn't be bothered. No discussion about engine or modifications, nothing about the process, nothing about what to expect. I had to stop him and tell him what has been happening with the engine.
When we went around to the service entrance he had a shop person load my car on the dyno machine. Mike disappeared. He went somewhere else. 20 minutes later he took off in his car. He returned at 2:00pm and told the guy who loaded my car "it's in the office". So now I've been standing around this shop for an hour an 15 minutes, no conversations, no offer to wait in the office, nothing. They make you feel like they're going out of their way and doing you a favor.
With the garage being empty for 15 more minutes, they know I'm waiting and standing around, I walked back to the business office. I asked Mike about my 1:00 appointment. He said the last car took longer and he is at lunch at will get to when he is done. This guy was so rude I almost fell over. I said it would be nice if he let me know what was going on or offered me a place to sit and wait. He said I can sit in the entry area. There are no seats in the entry or area shop area! Then he told me it was my fault for bringing my car there at 10:00am. By this time I knew it was over. He said I could take the car if I didn't like it.
This guy is the shop manager. Unfortunately the owner was on vacation so there was nobody to go up to. Needless to say, I took the car. I had to call a tow truck and have my car towed home.
I think I made the right decision. They had just taken a car off the dyno machine before loading my car. I watched them do a few runs with it. Then when they parked it, they could not turn the car off because the timing was set wrong. Never take your business here.Helpful 16Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ed J.San Francisco, CA06May 17, 2014

I work for a shop in the city and had to find a new place to have cylinder heads machined. Found Rescino and would never change again. Fast and very efficient, prices are competitive, always done on time.
