    • Q:

How much gratuity do they add here and is it optional? Is 4 people a large group?

      A:

Gratuity is up to you. Large parties usually are charged a teasonable amount, although I do not know how much here. I generally leave 25% when all goes well.

A Great french restaurant . We have now been to it the four times in two years, when we come to New York from Florida.
A great interior, incredible food and a wonderful friendly staff.

This restaurant was wonderful! My husband and I went here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and it was the best celebration. We'd had our eye on this place for a while and just never pulled the trigger. The staff was lovely and accommodating and willing to help with suggestions. Everything we ate down to the table side bread was delicious and meticulously prepared.

We started with one of their gin cocktails which is batch made and I don't love gin but I loved this! We got two foie gras appetizers, the pate one in the slice of bread and it was flavorful and incredibly nostalgic for both of us for two different reasons. It really exemplified the stories and memories food can provide you. The other foie gras dish was in a consume and while it was delicious when we go back I am not sure we will get it again. The star of our entire meal was the veal sweetbreads which were served in this incredible creamy sauce and topped with a shiitake mushroom. My husband and I both agreed that if we go back this dish at wind up being either an entree for us both or we eat get our own because it was exquisite. For our entree my husband and I both got the whole rabbit which is prepared three ways and served all at once in three separate dishes at the table. Out of the three dishes The mustard onion rabbit was my favorite due to the flavor profile and I think also had the most rabbit meat which is like chicken but a little more gamey. For dessert we got the cheesecake which my husband was not super impressed with (but he's biased to his mom's cheesecake). I love it. It was light and fluffy and had these little baby strawberry looking like berries on top which were beautifully sweet. Throughout the they kept refilling our bread which was good because we had a lot of soupy liquid to scoop up with it. My husband also got multiple whisky cocktails and the Ice in the glass was so clear you couldn't even see it in the glass.

This place was just all around wonderful. They do have 1 Michelin star and there were some minor things where you can understand why they don't have more than one, but the food was beautifully prepared and the wait staff was extremely attentive. We will definitely be coming her again, we just may need to give it some time to see if anything new hits the menu.

Highly recommend especially for a celebratory occasion.

Le Coucou was recommended to us by a friend and we are so happy it was. It is a culinary gem nestled in the heart of New York City, offering an unparalleled dining experience that marries exquisite cuisine with an enchanting atmosphere. From the moment you step through the doors, you are transported to a bygone era of elegance and charm.

The interior design of Le Coucou is a testament to refined taste and sophistication. The restaurant's ambiance is both inviting and grand, with its high ceilings, soft lighting, and classic French decor creating a sense of timeless beauty. Every detail, from the elegant table settings to the plush seating, contributes to the restaurant's luxurious atmosphere.

The service at Le Coucou is nothing short of exceptional. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and always eager to cater to your every need. Our server, James, was great! From the moment you are seated to the moment you leave, you are made to feel like a valued guest, adding to the overall enjoyment of the dining experience.

Of course, the true star of the show at Le Coucou is the food. The menu, crafted by renowned chef Daniel Rose, is a celebration of French culinary tradition with a modern twist. Each dish is a work of art, both visually stunning and incredibly delicious. From the delicate seafood to the rich, hearty meats, every bite is a revelation, showcasing the skill and creativity of the kitchen. I definitely recommend the duck dish - outstanding!

Le Coucou is a truly exceptional dining experience. The interior designed by Roman and Williams is beautiful, warm, and cozy, with a cute little bar area and a gorgeous open kitchen that adds to the ambiance.

The menu is divided into three sections - small tapas-like plates, starters, and mains. We started with the white bean salad with crispy pig and anchovy, as well as the fried eel with curry. Both dishes were light yet packed with subtle flavors. We also had the pleasure of trying the artichoke and egg dish from our neighbors, which was a delightful combination of a scotch egg and eggs Benedict, served cold.

For our starter, we shared the veal head with creme fraiche and caviar, which was decadently delicious. The mains were equally impressive - my wife had the beef with gratin potatoes with oxtail, while I enjoyed the bourride, a seafood dish in an ethereal fish broth.

We ended our meal with a wonderful cheese plate and a rice pudding that was lighter than air. To accompany our meal, we enjoyed an excellent bottle of red Chinon from Bernard Baudry.

Overall, Le Coucou offers a beautiful space and excellent celebratory food. It is the perfect spot for a formal dining experience that is sure to impress.

The service here was amazing and it had really good ambience! I would definitely recommend going here for a nice date night. My favorite item was definitely the duck and they prepare the sauce on the plate for you. For the other two food items I posted I would say that they were all right and you could go without those items. The highlight of this place is definitely the service to make sure that our water cup and drinks were never low and we're constantly asking if we need anything else.

Can't say enough great things about this place! Came here on a weekend for lunch to celebrate a special day and the service was top tier all around. It was a great balance of helpful without being overbearing.

Food was incredible too. Everything we ordered was amazing including the wine and desserts. I personally thought the chicken was the best. Sometimes I find french dishes to start to feel heavy towards the end of the meal but did not feel that whatsoever here.

The ambiance was also super nice. Beautiful interior design and that bar when you first come in is very cute.

All around a great meal and great time - recommended!

I thought the wine was good and the service was very good. I would definitely like to come back some time. The rabbit was a unique dish and I thought the Dover sole was my favorite.

Excellent fine dining experience that's worth the splurge. Service goes above and beyond for you, and no one is uptight or rude. What's interesting is that there's no music at all...the restaurant's environment is dependent on the customers happiness and chattiness. Each dish was executed superbly. The kitchen was able to split two entrees for both my friend and I to share since we were indecisive. The filet ended up being so good and tender that we ordered a second one! The duck is a classical French dish, but it ranked second after the beef. The leeks come off as boring on paper but ended up being zesty and crunchy. Pate was a classic and a good portion. Hazelnut/ganache dessert was good, but broke apart easily which made it annoying to eat. If you're the type to go for dessert somewhere else afterwards, do that instead!

Visited for 2024 NYE event. The place had so many street parking. It was very accessible with the public transit as well. The place was very welcoming and accommodating. They have a coat check if you need. Place was not too packed and was not too loud.
Food courses were great. They served total of 9 dishes. Absolutely loved the main dish; mushroom, foie gras and beef steak. Very juicy and flavorful. Very distinct layers. Although, i did not do wine pairing but wine recommended went very well with selection. Definitely, recommend to ask for the recommendations.
Staffs and servers were very polite and accommodating. They constantly checked without interruptions. I thought this would also be a great place for a dinner/meeting.
They also had various performances which I really enjoyed!
      This experience definitely worth!
