Like a lot of reviews say, the line does get long and I am glad I listened to get there early. I got there ~30 minutes before open and was second in line. By the time we were let in, the line got to 20-30 people. Additionally, they do let in people slowly as it seems they let people only come in one party at a time,

The vibe inside was like an underground bar, with live jazz music being played. To note, they do have a 10$ charge of the music per person so make sure to account for that!

We ordered ourselves a udon carbonera and their Yakemishi fried rice, both were amazing. Although a bit small, my favorite was the fried rice. It had a nice traditional feel and I loved every bite of it. They also have a few drinks (I had their pina colada mocktail which was a nice slushy drink to have with the ambiance. Overall, the staff were all pleasant and patient with us with recommendations. Would love to come back here again!

Tomi Jazz is a whole VIBE. They've nailed it with the ambiance - cute, cozy, & the live music just makes it so much better. But here's the thing - I wouldn't come back unless I came here right at opening time. My best friend & I came to Tomi Jazz at 4:45 after numerous reviews and stories about the long lines. We were 3rd in line, behind a solo diner and a group of 2, and we didn't get seated until around 5:30. They seat one party at a time, and then wait a good 10-15 minutes before allowing the next party in. It almost artificially creates a wait with this staggering process. Once we were seated inside, we thankfully weren't rushed at all throughout dinner, but it sure does contribute to the wait outside. The seating arrangements inside are intimate. Don't be surprised to be sharing a dining space with other parties. Highly recommend groups of 2, maybe 4 max.

The food here is sooo tasty. Between my best friend and I, we split 4 items (crab cream croquette, cod roe udon, seafood spaghetti, and omurice. Sadly they didn't have the curry croquette, but I would love to try it next time! Everything is delicious; the seafood spaghetti was maybe my favorite of the night, but I would reorder any of the other items too. The cod roe udon and omurice did get to be a little heavy towards the end, but that was maybe poor planning from our end to get 3 heavy carbs. The crab cream croquette was really crispy & not too heavy! Not too sure I tasted that much crab though. Drinks here are strong & refreshing. I liked the frozen lychee a bit more than the mandarin slush, & the ly frappe (mocktail) is also really good.

Service is attentive and really kind. The music is not overbearingly loud, and still allows for good conversations.

Obsessed is an understatement! When we entered this place, it was dark but I felt like we were transported to a different place, but it was so cool and felt so cozy and intimate!

They don't take reservations and you don't put your name on a list, instead you physically get in line and wait till there's a spot and they'll open the door for the next party to enter.

Keep in mind, whenever they have live jazz, there is a $10 music cover charge, per person! Aside from the ambiance, the food and drinks were just as delicious!

'Stir Fried Cod Roe Udon': I still think about this!! The udon was perfectly chewy, the sauce was saucy and creamy, and the cod roe flavor was subtle and added a nice little texture to the dish.

They offer alcoholic and mock tails which were all so good! We got the frozen lychee, virgin pina colada, and virgin frozen lychee. It was refreshing, and who doesn't love a fun slush drink!?

Staff here were really nice and attentive! Also, if you pay in cash you get a bit of a discount!

The intimate ambiance, decor, and live jazz here are amazing! The food and drinks, however, were just alright. I ordered a mandarin slush and thought it was fairly bland. So this is definitely a place to check out just for the vibes, not for the food/drinks.

My group arrived at around 4:20pm on a Sunday (place opens a 5pm), and there was already a line of around 15-20 people ahead of us. After 5pm, groups slowly got seated one by one. I'm guessing seating is staggered to accommodate for the small kitchen and to avoid bottlenecks. My group got seated by 5:20pm.

I'm glad I finally got to visit this place, but I probably wouldn't wait an hour in line to come back here again.

Wait was the same as disneyland if not more, butttt totally worth! Got there at 9, got in at 10:30. They said 2 hr time limit, but we left at 1:20 jazz music was popping and the indoor aesthetics fit the jazz vibe so well. Since we were a big group, they put us behind a wall where we could still hear the music, but it was sectioned away from the main space. I'd highly recommend coming with a smaller group if you're there for the jazz.

Cash discount! Get the noodles/udon, staff is SUPER duper friendly and put a candle in the dessert we got for kev's bday. Impeccable vibes, clean restrooms, funny and incredibly kinda servers.

The wait was long but the ambiance and food were amazing! We waited for about 2 hours on a Friday night at around 5:30pm. The wait was hectic as it was raining and there was a mouse incident. However, the live jazz and decorations were beautiful. Also, they were able to kindly accommodate our large party. I got the vegetarian noodles and it was delicious. I'd probably try to get there earlier to get a table.

My friends took us to Tomi Jazz and it was one of the most memorable experiences I've had in NYC. No reservations, so they got there early to wait in line for opening at 5pm. The restaurant is basement-level; dark, moody, and crowded. Kinda reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland lol.

+ Egg drop soup 5/5: Simple but extremely flavorful bowl of thickened soup. The eggs were so wispy and fluffy.
+ Avocado spaghetti 5/5: First time eating an avocado spaghetti and it definitely tasted creamy and rich.
+ Yaki-udon 5/5: Highlight of my dinner because this stir fried udon was so delicious. It had an assortment of veggies and tons of bonito flakes. Everything came together for an easy but flavorful dish.
+ Croquette 4/5: Got both the corn and crab cream one. I'm glad I shared half of each because it can get too heavy from being deep fried with very creamy fillings. Still good tho.
+ Omurice with demi-glaze 4/5: We were too busy talking that we forgot to slice the egg open for the gooey scrambled egg consistency. It was a bit overcooked by the time we remembered.

As for drinks, we each ordered two drinks. Honestly, can't go wrong with any of the cocktails on the menu. Tomi Jazz is very generous and heavy-handed with their pours. Can't wait to come back!

I heard many great things about Tomi Jazz, and went to check out this place on Friday after work with my girlfriend. I got there around 5pm and there was already a line forming. I think we waited about a hour before we were seated, which wasn't bad at all.

The vibes inside were amazing, it was like an underground speak easy with soft lighting. We are big fans of jazz music, so it was a treat listening to live jazz during our time there. The musician was really ripping it on his alto sax!

Food was overall delicious! I really enjoyed the curry croquette and taiko pasta. I think the scallop cream croquette was good but there was too much cream in it. The crab omurice was alright, I wasn't a fan of the starchy sauce.

Overall I really recommend this place as the vibes were amazing and the food was delicious! I appreciate the live music aspect a lot!

Cozy space, solid jazz, yummy food and drinks! We visited on a Friday afternoon and got in line around 4:40pm and ended up waiting in line for ~1 hour (didn't feel that long). Service was super attentive and kind, even though they were really busy! Got the curry croquette (4/5), scallop cream croquette (5/5), cod roe spaghetti (4/5), chicken wings (5/5), crab omelette (3/5), and honey toast with matcha ice cream (4/5). Also loved my mandarin slush!
      Would definitely come back.

Immaculate vibes. I feel like I was transported back to Japan right when I walked in! Waited just over an hour in line, and when I left at 11pm there was still a long line.

Drinks were so good. Had the lychee martini and it tasted like juice. Friend's mandarin slush was super refreshing. Got the Zen drink for second round, the matcha was really high quality.

Food is also up to par! Shared a few items, and standouts were the omurice, cod roe spaghetti, and matcha toast.
