"After a while, you just buy cashmere." my sister said - well, after a while, you just start taking EVERYTHING to Columbus Lace and you stop fooling around with other dry cleaners. Columbus Lace is THE BEST IN TOWN!

This dry cleaner is amazing. I spill things on everything and all my clothes come back stain free and perfectly pressed. They also specialize in hard to clean items like vintage. I found this sweatshirt in a junk shop in Michigan and it was completely brown and orange with hard water stains. I figured it had about a 5% chance of being cleaned but I paid $2 for it and took it in. The thing looks brand new, they are amazing! Great prices for the quality too. You cannot go wrong taking your clothes here!

I took my wedding dress in to be cleaned and pressed before my alterations appointment. As I got it on consignment, I figured cleaning it was wise. My dress has a intricate embroidered lace overlay, but this place is very well reviewed and has the word "lace" in the name, so I had no worries about it.

I picked up my dress and the ends of the embroidery are completely frayed, and in a noticeable way. I returned to the store to ask what could have caused this problem and if there was any way to fix it. The gentleman told me that he'd "never" seen this happen before, and basically told me that my dress is defective.

I am not a dry cleaning expert, but it seems to me that there is no way that this place has been cleaning wedding dresses for 60 years and has never come across an embroidered lace dress. If the employees at this business had the experience of cleaning dresses like this and seeing it go awry, then I should've been told not to have my dress cleaned. What is more likely: that my dress was so unusual or something that they had never cleaned something like this before? Or that someone screwed something up?

I asked for, and was RELUCTANTLY issued, a refund, but I feel like it should've been offered to me right off the bat.

Every bride wants to feel perfect on her wedding day, and my dress WAS perfect. It was everything I could've wanted. And now it's not. I had a perfect dress that I loved, and Columbus Lace messed it up. I won't be so extra as to say my wedding is ruined or anything, but to all the brides-to-be looking for a cleaning service: you're taking a gamble here. I sincerely hope you have better luck than I did.

I want to preface this review with this: I have never written a review before and I typically give people benefit of the doubt... But this experience made me consider reporting this business to the BBB, read on:

The day I am supposed to pick up my wedding dress, I get a call around 3:45PM that the sewn in bra "had disintegrated" and that the seamstress cut it out. They were only supposed to spot-clean the bottom of the dress, so I couldn't understand why the bra was affected. The event was in two days, so I drove over to figure out what was going on.

Apparently the owner never got the voicemail confirming to spot clean the dress. Okay - not a huge deal. But when the silicon in the sewn in bra appeared to be leaking, the seamstress, owner, or whoever decided to go ahead and cut it out without giving me a call first. This ruined the bra - causing the silicon to completely come out. This was all done the DAY I was supposed to pick up the dress. The seamstress and owner were both gone when I got to the store at about 4:30.

Okay accidents happen, but the worst part:

I had the kid working the desk call the owner so I could figure out what happened. The owner, Steve said "sorry nothing like this has ever happened before" but then proceeded to blame me for everything.

According to him: The dress was not dropped off in time for the job to be done (not true, they had over two weeks to do it - and even if, why wouldn't he have told me he didn't have enough time up front?)

I never got back to him about the spot cleaning, so he assumed a full clean would be okay (not true - my mother who had dropped the dress off left him a voicemail)

He assumed the bra was an old bra, and that is why it leaked (Also not true. I bought the bra to have my seamstress sew into the dress just a few months prior - but good effort trying to blame the bra itself).

He argued with me on the phone for probably 6 or 7 minutes. He told me to "go to walmart or target, buy a new bra, bring it back on Friday and have the seamstress sew it in" For someone who specializes in wedding dresses, he was kind of clueless about how wedding dresses are tailored.

I just wanted a refund, not a debate. It was supposed to be $134, and instead of apologizing and refunding the dress, he haggled me to $70 ($80 with tax, of course). The dress was clean, I will give them that, but I paid $80 for awful service, an irreparable bra, and the huge inconvenience of having to scramble to find a new bra the day before the event.

Oh yeah, and cherry on top... they lost the bridal garment bag that the dress was in when it was dropped off.

Great price, was the best I could find around. Turnover of clothes was less than 6 hours!! Staff was friendly at drop off and pick up!! I will be returning!!

The staff at Columbus Lace, especially Steve, went above and beyond the call of duty! I brought my mom's fire damaged wedding gown in to be cleaned, not expecting much since it was pretty badly smoke damaged and there was some charred parts. They worked a miracle and the dress looks so much better then before! They also gave a very good price for the service since it was a sentimental/special circumstance. I can't wait to surprise my mom with her newly cleaned wedding dress for my parent's 30th anniversary!

Lovely family business who were able to get the stains out of my favorite dress and a white lace skirt. Everyone was friendly and efficient, and the job was completed ahead of schedule. Will definitely be back!!

Columbus Lace cleaned and preserved my wedding dress. My wedding was outdoors and the bottom of my dress was filthy. It was returned to me clean and beautifully packaged. Very friendly service as well.

I went in the day before my wedding to have my dress and my husband's suit pressed. I had not made an appointment (and it was the day) before but they said that they would be able to turn around same day. When I got there, the owner looked at my dress but rather than take my money, he said that it looked like it was in good condition already, that he would be happy to steam it further but he didn't think it was necessary. In truth, I hadn't even looked at it since traveling since I was sure it would need pressed so that he took time to exam it and talk to me was incredibly thoughtful. He did think the suit jacked could use a pressing but did it as I waited so I wouldn't have to come back. The entire staff was incredibly pleasant, they did a wonderful job and they provided great service and advice and care, instead of just walking through the steps. I recommended to all of my friends!
