I absolutely love Sawmill Commons Apartments! They have been completely renovated, from the wood trim, drywall, windows, carpet, vinyl flooring in bathrooms and kitchen, plus new cabinets throughout and new appliances and last July they replaced the roofs.
I have been a homeowner for 50 years and I am more than happy now to relinquish all the responsibilities of home ownership. The maintenance crew is super and are quick to handle work requests. They do a terrific job of maintaining the grounds and pool. The ladies working in the office are all very friendly.
All ages are represented here from school kids to senior citizens. I have met so many people while walking my dog. Everyone has been extremely nice. There are quite a few professional people who are working from home. Maybe it's because I have met so many people, I feel there is a family-type of atmosphere. Instead of people rushing from their cars to their apartments, they will stop and chat. I love to bake and have made goodies to share with people in five of the buildings.
As far as break-ins mentioned in another review, some of the cars were unlocked. My thought is to not leave things in your car that will invite a break-in.
I appreciate having my lawn mowed, pool cleaned, leaves blown and removed, parking lot plowed when it snows, appliances fixed or replaced when needed, not having to pay to have a roof replaced, water heater replaced, etc. Home ownership is time consuming and expensive. I love that I could walk to Walmart or Kroger if I had to. There are so many shopping opportunities nearby that I feel like I've died and gone to heaven. This is not just my apartment, it is my home! I love living here. Oh, I need to mention that there many people who have lived here over 10 years! Those people have a reserved parking place.
Before renting this apartment, I visited other apartment complexes. I fell in love with this complex right off the bat. None of the other apartments could compare in my estimation. I finally realized I could just drive through apartment complexes without even bothering to see the apartments. Just looking at how well the buildings and grounds were taken care of told me I all I needed to know.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I just moved in a week ago. I could not be happier. Not only has everyone in the office been incredibly nice, I felt they tried to get me the apartment I wanted as soon as possible. It took over 2 months but it was worth it. The apartment was completely renovated and even had new carpet. I had one minor issue for the move in checklist and it was remedied by maintenance within 2 days. Possibly more important -- this complex is very, very dog friendly. From the women in the office (Brianne, Amy and Deann) to every neighbor I have met -- they are all so nice to my dog and to me. This is a friendly place. I loved the layout of this apartment and that's why I chose it. I had no idea all of the other things here I would love. I was selling a house and worried about apartment living -- now I wonder what took me so long. I have not rented for many years, and this life is way better than I remember. I have to give Casto credit-- this place is well taken care of, and they have hired an exceptional staff here.

2020 has been a year of struggle for a lot of reasons--Covid-19, potentially no OSU Buckeye football, and an unending summer of heat.
One area that has been a pleasant surprise in my life this year?
Moving into Sawmill Commons, a Dublin apartment complex that has stood the test of time since Earle Bruce coached the Buckeyes in the mid '80s.
But you won't find outdated cabinets and small floorplans here: The Casto Communities team at Sawmill Commons has updated their complex recently and made it modern, friendly and amazing for new residents!
The environment is superb, quiet and clean. Amy, Deanna, Hannah and the rest of the team are welcoming and answered all of our questions on a timely manner. Leasing was hassle-free and they explained the process well. No BS and no hidden issues.
I'd recommend anyone live here, honestly. They have floor plans for all needs. It's in a residential area east of Sawmill Road in the legendary Olde Sawmill neighborhood, so you'll deal with some traffic but you're also close to major shopping and commerce.
Our move-in was busy, but calm because the staff was super-helpful. Fixtures work well and the property is very clean. The complex itself has tons of units in many two-story buildings. There is also plenty of parking, trash dumpsters are well-kept and mail is safe and secure. The clubhouse is gorgeous and the water-wheel outside is a unique architectural touch on the clubhouse.
In conclusion, although my Bucks may or may not play this summer, I'm truly grateful for my move-in experience. This particular complex is one of the stars of the Casto system, and it is one of my bright spots in a year full of challenges!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Do not trust the management of Sawmill Commons, or the CASTO company. Also, this area is not as safe as it seems. One night over a dozen cars were broken into (see photos), probably because the area is not well lit at night.
I lived in Sawmill commons for two years, and it was a miserable time. During the second year living there, I heard from the neighbor that full renovations were going to take place and that everyone would be forced to move out or to a new unit. I should have received notice from the office before hearing this from a neighbor. Then the lies started. I was told that renovations were not going to commence until July 2018 - a month before our lease was set to end. However, they started doing major work in April 2018. This was a big problem because my partner worked from home at the time and they were literally jackhammering the concrete floors around and above us for hours during the day. The management also caused major disruptions by replacing our windows and sliding glass door while still living there, forcing us to pay someone to watch our dog during the day. The workers were rude and one of the painters even threatened to beat me up when I asked him why he was scrapping the floor (extremely loud) at 7:30 am. Trash was left everywhere, including broken glass. These months of renovations were some of the most disruptive living conditions I have ever experienced.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Sawmill Commons is a great place to live. Caring management and a responsive maitenance department are hard to come by these days. I have lived here for the past 2.5 years and have had no issues with any of my needs. Even during large remodeling projects, they still find the time to be a great nurturing staff. I love living here!

I lived at sawmill commons from 2020-2022 through a time of uncertainty during the pandemic things were great at first. But things went downhill after both my girlfriend and I caught long covid. Which uprooted us from our jobs. We were sick for over 2 months and unemployment was a disaster. She never got hers and mine would come and sometimes be delayed for a month at a time which made paying rent very difficult. We would have 800-900 out of the 1000 needed to pay rent and they would not work with us. They said rent needed to be paid in full and they hit us with late fees on the 2nd and eviction notice on the 5th. Even during the rent moratorium they tried to evict us for being a little short, we applied for help through impact and they helped it only took about 3 weeks. We applied and were given 4 months of rent paid, although sawmill commons pointed out an error to them and told them we already paid one month that was applied for. So they only would accept 3 months of rent which was pretty rude of them to do. In my time there I've never seen anyone so willing to try to uproot Good people going through a tough time that are sincerely trying. All and all it was a great area, the appliances are outdated but decent, tons of places nearby to eat and shop, a great place to live. However casto puts their employees in bad positions, I believe all the problems there root from pressure from casto. Once they took away all the dumpsters and everyone just put their trash on the ground it looked hideous, then after a month of that they brought back one dumpster for about 50-60 units, and would only have pickup once a week on a Tuesday.. lol this was ridiculous trash everywhere... we wanted to extend our lease a 3rd time but because we were late 3-4 times during a pandemic they refused to allow us to stay, ever offered us carpet cleaning on our first renewal. Basically this company is the most money hungry greedy company I have ever witnessed in my 33 years of living. I was shocked when we got most of our deposit back, they only charged us for a 20 dollar light bulb in the kitchen and the drop pans on the stove! Haha yeah they charged us for a lightbulb... they burn out that's not our responsibility but whatever just happy to be in a nicer apartment that offers a grace period. Now we have to the 5th to pay rent which has left us to never be late again. I would never rent from casto again. I would implore everyone to stay away from casto. It is a pathetic excuse of a company that doesn't care about their residents.

Sawmill Commons is the One bright Shining star of 2020 for me. What a difficult and sometimes very trying year. Moving here was a breath of fresh air. Clean and meticulous landscaping, nice neighbors, quiet and a park next door to boot. I've met several of my neighbors, and they're all nice folks. The staff at the office, very responsive, they are committed (even if you're having a bad day), they address your cares and concerns with calm congeniality. I'm happy living here and looking forward to the days when we can all get together again. I would recommend this development to anyone I know.

Sawmill commons is a slum. There are constantly bugs in the apartments and they refuse to spray. More importantly is their maintenance crew! I have lived here for a year and already the maintenance crew has stolen my valuables out of my apartment (including my wedding rings) using the office key (that apparently everyone in the office has access to). The property manager is rude and acts annoyed that anyone has simple requests.
All in all this place is a hell hole.
Appliances suck, patio fences falling apart, and overall VERY poor management of the place.
Beware of the "maintenance checks" as they don't tell you what day, time or who is entering your apartment (they don't even document it) and this means all of your valuables are at stake. If you live here (god forbid) make sure to get renters insurance AND security cameras, AND a safe, etc. This place has had crime after crime including car break in's and theft of every kind.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steve V.Plain City, United States01Feb 22, 2019
Been here for around a year and a half. Every trip to the front office has been a pleasure and I enjoy working with the staff. At time of writing the apartments are in the process of renovating, and the renovations are looking absolutely fantastic, which includes the exterior and interior.
Price/size of the apartments is above-average. Despite renovations increasing rent slightly, the value is still quite nice.
Pets are somewhat expensive to have, which is unfortunate if you have multiple cats or dogs.
I've not yet had any issues with their maintenance nor their maintenance team. Any time I'm in the office and I mention any inconveniences (whether directly or unintentionally) the staff there's quick to ensure it gets fixed. I've probably had around or just under 10 requests in the time I've been there (dimming lights, broken blinds, locking myself out of the apartment..) and everything's been taken care of the day-after I submit the request.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heath D.Fayetteville, United States157192146Sep 30, 2015
This has to be the most scandalous place I have ever attempted to get an apartment at. Let me say a couple things first. It has a nice clubhouse, and decent enough exercise room and pool area. The rest of the grounds are extremely under maintained--and its a shame, because the look of the apartments is really cool with the stone and wood siding. The inside of the apartments are very spacious, especially for the price.
While the lack of maintenance clearly shows the concern that Casto has for their properties, even worse is their customer service. All I will say is that me and my wife were lied to on two key items. It wasn't until the second time of talking to someone there that we got different facts and realized something was fishy. This surprised us a bit more just because the property manager there is all ended realtor--not abiding by what is ethical can get them in pretty big trouble. Anyhow, just from their scandalous lies we decided this wouldn't be a place we would want to give our money too every month. Advice: stay away from this one and any other Casto property!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
