Winter weather causing delays for grocery store shipments
Shoppers may notice limited stock on certain items at the grocery store.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Some grocery stores around Nashville have been seeing some delays in certain items getting on store shelves.
With snow expected for Friday, stores are saying the lack of items is due to weather.
Because of the lack of some items, shoppers across Nashville have seen a rush of people at grocery stores.
“I’ve been stranded at work before because the roads get crazy and people kind of panic and empty out the stores,” one shopper shared.
He said the store was packed for a Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m lucky to live close so I’m here for just a five-minute errand, but I do typically avoid the grocery store when it’s chaotic like this,” the shopper said. “I mean I’ve parked all the way back here.”
As she was shopping, he said they were in the middle of stocking.
“Most of the stuff is getting put back on the shelves if it’s not there already,” he said.
Another shopper shared that he wasn’t too concerned about the rush of shoppers.
“I’m not paying attention to it,” Mike Flannagan said. “We handle it better than we used to, so I’m not concerned about it.”
In response to getting items on the shelves, Kroger told WSMV4 the following:
“We are actively working to address these challenges by rerouting deliveries, coordinating with suppliers, and deploying additional resources to ensure our shelves are restocked as quickly as possible.
The safety of our associates, drivers, and partners remains our top priority as we navigate these weather-related disruptions. We are committed to providing the products our customers rely on and greatly appreciate your understanding and support during this time."
WSMV4 reached out to other grocery store chains, but we have not heard back.
