Located in Carterville, Illinois, WSIL serves portions of four states – Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee. WSIL is 2 hours from St. Louis, 3 hours from Nashville, Tennessee, and approximately 5 hours from Chicago.
The WSIL viewing area boasts several great parks and lakes. For the sportsman, the area offers opportunities for turkey, deer, and waterfowl hunting. Southern Illinois is home to the Thrillville Thrillbillies, a Prospect League baseball team, as well as four universities, Southern Illinois Univ. Carbondale, Southeast Missouri State Univ., Murray State Univ., and UT Martin. WSIL is also within easy driving distance to Busch Stadium to watch the St. Louis Cardinals or Nissan Stadium to see the Tennessee Titans.
The WSIL area is also home to many festivals and special events each year, including the Murphysboro Apple Festival, Du Quoin State Fair, SEMO District Fair, Herrin Festa Italiana, BBQ on the River and the Cobden Peach Festival.
If you are a wine or beer enthusiast, you can explore and taste dozens of locally made beer and wine in southern Illinois. The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail showcases more than a dozen local wineries and there are several opportunities to have a locally brewed cold one.

View Job DetailsTECHNICAL MEDIA PRODUCER (TMP)
DESCRIPTION: A Technical Media Producer (TMP) is a hybrid position which includes the responsibilities of a Master Control Operator and a Technical Director. The TMP is responsible for directing live or pre-recorded productions as assigned, monitoring on-air streams, FCC logs, and ingesting daily programming/commercials. Daily assignments will include directing at least one newscast, ingesting/segmenting various long-form programs, ingesting commercial spots, loading programming playlists for the following day, and performing various tasks as needed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Operation of Ross Overdrive automation (including robotic cameras, audio console, graphics, and production video switcher), and all supporting equipment in Production/Master Control; including the ability to effectively perform at the following: commercial/promo ingesting, satellite operation, program ingesting/segmenting, & a working knowledge of web production. Operation of Edius editing software, and studio teleprompter. Daily care & maintenance of equipment & studio. Work closely with all departments to meet daily demands. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Master Control and Live Production experience. Experience with production automation system like Ross Overdrive, ability to work under pressure, great communication/people skills, ability to multitask under time sensitive deadlines, strong technical & computer skills, flexibility with scheduling & job assignments, understanding of FCC program logs & all FCC broadcast regulations. Willingness to learn new hardware and software.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time position available; rate of pay is hourly.

We’re looking for a hard-working journalist who can create an experience for viewers, not simply write and organize news copy. Strong writing and storytelling skills are a must.
The successful candidate must be able to produce a creative, compelling, visually appealing newscasts every day. You also must be able to manage content on multiple platforms, including TV, web, mobile and social media.
You will be working in a brand-new newsroom that is a producer's dream. You'll have all the tools necessary to create visual and exciting content in the studio and live in the field.
