ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WIS) - A man and woman are dead following two separate shootings along the same residential road in Orangeburg County.

The shootings happened Saturday night, one in the 1800 block of Broughton Street and the other in the same area, near Fischer Street.

Solicitor Dave Pascoe says a man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a murder he committed in 2019.

Officials said the victims were a 63-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man.

Residents in the neighborhood said it’s odd for two shootings to happen on the same night in the area.

73-year-old dies 2 weeks after being shot dead on Gay Drive

A 73-year-old died just over two weeks after being shot on Gay Drive earlier this month, the Richmond County Coroner told us on Tuesday.

“I started hearing lots of sirens and I finally came out and there were probably about six police vehicles, 8 cars, and an ambulance were all at this house,” said homeowner Jay Magee. “I’m not worried unless it’s something from the outside coming in, and that would of course be a concern.”

Magee said in his nine years living off Broughton Street, the incidents are surprising.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released. Officials said the incidents were not related.

The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety man and woman’s deaths are being investigated as homicides.
