Description009192022 Sukapuram Dakshina Murthy Temple, Edappal Kerala 070.jpg
English: The Sukapuram Dakshinamurthy temple of Edappal is a 12th or 13th century Hindu temple complex in the Shaivism tradition. It has a notable dvitala vimana (two-storey superstructure above the sanctum). This east-facing temple features a square floor plan, a timber roof and copper cladding on top.
The Sukapuram Dakshinamurthy temple has a mukhamandapa whose roof also serves as the sukhanasa of the primary shrine. The adhisthana is of granite, while the outer walls of the sanctum feature harantara-recesses that create five bays and shallow niches with sala-shikharas. This historic site has been a source of four Hindu inscriptions.
