- Out on Loan
Hungarian goalkeeper Krisztián Hegyi joined the Academy of Football from Szombathelyi Haladás in his home country in May 2019.
Regarded as one of the brightest goalkeeping prospects in Europe, Hegyi had made an impression on first-team goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero before international clearance allowed him to make his West Ham U18s debut against Brighton & Hove Albion in April of 2019.
Hegyi established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for the U23s in the 2021/22 season and was named captain for the 2022/23 campaign. Capped regularly by Hungary U21s, Hegyi earned his first senior international call-up in March 2023.
He was loaned to EFL League One club Stevenage in summer 2023 and helped them defeat Championship side Watford on his debut in the EFL Cup first round. After making six appearances, Hegyi returned to West Ham in January, before being loaned to Dutch Eerste Division outfit FC Den Bosch for the second half of the 2023/24 season, where he contributed six clean sheets in 17 outings.
Back in east London, Hegyi was rewarded with a contract extension with the Hammers until the summer of 2027, with the option of a further year, and he then joined Scottish top-flight side Motherwell on loan for 2024/25.
