WEEKLY STORYLINES

LOOKING FOR FOUR IN FOUR: Whitecaps FC 2 are on fire. The young 'Caps find themselves in the midst of a three-game winning streak, the first time they've won three straight matches since April 2022, with all three victories coming at Swangard Stadium. WFC2 will be looking to extend their run to four straight wins on Thursday as they wrap up their four-game homestand against fellow Western Conference side Minnesota United FC 2. The last time the Loons visited Swangard came in April 2023, as Vancouver claimed a thrilling 5-2 victory thanks to goals from Levonte Johnson, Lucas Dasovic, Deiber Caicedo, and Jay Herdman.

GOLDEN LIKE GOLDTHORP: A player who's been a big part of WFC2's recent success is Eliot Goldthorp. The 22-year-old wingback, who was selected 45th overall by Whitecaps FC in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, has recorded four goal contributions in the last two matches (two goals, two assists) and currently sits tied for the team-lead in assists with four. Goldthorp also sits tied for third in MLS NEXT Pro in key passes with 25 across 11 starts and 12 appearances this season.

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS: Not only have the young 'Caps been putting up points in the standings lately, but they've also been firing on all cylinders in front of goal. The squad has scored two or more goals in four of their last five matches, with eight different goalscorers taking part. In fact, WFC2 is approaching 100 goals in their MLS NEXT Pro era, currently sitting at 98 goals heading into the week's action. The team has also kept things clean at the back recently, keeping shutouts in two of their last three matches.
