DONALDSONVILLE, La. (WAFB) - The 23rd Judicial District Court announced the following guilty pleas entered during the week of Aug. 19-23, 2024:
Ascension Parish
1. Christopher Alsay, Sorrento, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Battery of a Police Officer Resulting in Medical Attention and Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
2. Cori Casso, Prairieville, LA, age 47, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
3. Victor Jones, Donaldsonville, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight From an Officer and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
4. Jailyn Daniels, New Orleans, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
5. Kirk Gray, Gonzales, LA, age 47, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
6. Trelan Johnson, Prairieville, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Terrorizing and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
7. Darriaus Striggs, Donaldsonville, LA, age 47, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Lana Chaney and Adam Koenig. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.
8. Anthony Carter, Gonzales, LA, age 65, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
9. Kentrelle Marks, Baton Rouge, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
10. Lester Mandolph Jr., LaPlace, LA, age 47, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
11. James Peters, Donaldsonville, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
12. Dereck Scott, Sorrento, LA, age 47, ped guilty to Terrorizing and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
13. Cameron Thomas, age 24, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
14. Kenneth Ray White, Prairieville, LA, age 50, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation with 6 months being on home incarceration.
15. Derrick Shelbia, Baton Rouge, LA, age 46, pled guilty to Armed Robbery and Second-Degree Kidnapping. On the charge of Armed Robbery, the defendant was sentenced to 20 years with the Louisianan Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Second-Degree Kidnapping, the defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
16. Derrick Smith, Donaldsonville, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be served, and the remaining 2 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation.
The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Jeff Heggelund. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner.
Assumption Parish
1. Alexandria Boyd, Belle Rose, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
2. Crystal Lopez, New Iberia, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
3. Joshua Skal, Prairieville, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
4. Tyler Everett, Pierre Part, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin.
St. James Parish
1. Terren Gant, Gramercy, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and Illegal Use of Weapons. The defendant was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.
