Prince George and his little sister Princess Charlotte joined their parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to attend church at Sandringham on Christmas Day. It is the first time George, six, and Charlotte, four, have appeared alongside the Queen and the extended royal family on the traditional Christmas morning walk to St Mary Magdalene church on the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk. Their one-year-old brother Prince Louis stayed at home.
Princess Charlotte walked hand-in-hand with her mother Kate, who chose a belted grey dress coat with a faux fur collar, an emerald green hat and coordinating heels to attend the service.

The Queen, resplendent in red, was without the Duke of Edinburgh, who is at Sandringham but did not attend the service following a brief stay in hospital in the days leading up to Christmas, where he received treatment for a pre-existing condition.
Also notable by their absence were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are taking an extended break from duties and have not joined the royal family at Sandringham this year. Meghan, Harry, and baby Archie are understood to be spending the holidays in Canada with the Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland. Photos have emerged of their first formal Christmas card as a family of three, featuring their baby son crawling towards the camera as his parents look on in delight.
An invite to the royal Christmas festivities at Sandringham was extended to Princess Beatrice’s fiancé, businessman Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who joined his bride-to-be and soon-to-be in-laws on the walk to the church.
The Cambridge family earlier shared a sweet portrait the Duchess took of her husband Prince William and their three children in Norfolk, to wish their social media followers a merry Christmas.
