The royal family has released three new photographs to mark Prince George’s sixth birthday today (July 22). The series of photos were taken by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, who has previously captured Prince Louis’s official first birthday pictures – at the family’s homes in Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall. She also took portraits of Princess Charlotte to mark her fourth birthday in May.

Two of the portraits, in which George is wearing a white England football shirt and laughing, were taken in the garden of his home at Kensington Palace. The third captures him on a family holiday, wearing a green polo shirt and blue and white striped shorts. All of the shots were taken outdoors representing Kate’s love for nature.

“Spending time in nature can play a pivotal role in helping children grow up to become happy, healthy adults,” she previously said. Earlier this year, the Duchess unveiled the garden she had been working on in collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show.

Taking to Instagram on July 21, the Palace shared the three images, writing: “Happy Birthday Prince George! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share new photographs of Prince George to mark His Royal Highness’s sixth birthday... Thank you everyone for all your lovely messages!”
