Supplier Diversity & Inclusion FAQs
Yes, supplier diversity and inclusion is one of our environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities. You can read more in our ESG Report (PDF).
Once you have registered in the database, you will receive a confirmation email notifying you that your information was submitted successfully. After the form is reviewed, if there is a match to your company’s core competency areas and Verizon’s needs, you may be contacted.
No. Registration in Verizon’s Supplier Database does not certify a firm as a “preferred” or “approved” supplier. Registration gives us access to your company’s information. We will use the information in the database as a source of potential suppliers to consider when an appropriate opportunity arises in our sourcing process.
No. Supplier registration does not guarantee business with Verizon or any other Verizon affiliates or subsidiaries. Registration also does not obligate Verizon to place any supplier on a bidders list. Registration gives us access to your company’s information. We will use the information in the database as a source of potential suppliers to consider when an appropriate opportunity arises in our sourcing process.
Verizon’s process to do business with potential suppliers is the same for all suppliers. To be considered for doing business with Verizon, you must first register in the Supplier Database. Register Now.
Verizon does not certify diverse suppliers. We recognize certifications from third party organizations and/or government agencies approved by the supplier diversity and inclusion program. Some certifications we recognize include:
- Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council DBA Supply Nation (AIMSC)
- US Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC)
- California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Verizon requires you to obtain certification if your company is located in the state of California
- Disability: IN (Disability:IN)
- National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC)
- National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)
- National Veteran Business Development (NVBDC)
- US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (US PAACC)
- WEConnect International (WEConnect)
- Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)
- Federal, state, local government offices
- Public utility commissions
No, Verizon does not dictate which companies non-diverse suppliers should use as subcontractors. However, supplier diversity and inclusion is a shared corporate responsibility, and Verizon has a robust Tier 2 program in which non-diverse suppliers honor Tier 2 commitments by actively engaging with certified diverse businesses, and report quarterly in our Tier 2 portal.
