Wisconsin football recruiting tracker. A look the Badgers' commitments for the 2025 class

MADISON - Here is what to know about the players who have made oral commitments to Wisconsin football’s 2025 class. These players can make their commitments binding by signing a national letter of intent during the early period (Dec. 4-6).

Hardy Watts, offensive line

Committed: July 1.

Hometown: Brookline, Massachusetts.

High School: Dexter Southfield.

Height: 6-5.

Weight: 305 pounds.

Ratings: Watts is considered a four-star prospect by Rivals, 247sports and On3. ESPN gives him three stars.

The lowdown: Consider this another major score for the Badgers this recruiting season. Watts chose UW over defending national champion Michigan and Clemson.

Erik Schmidt, kicker/punter

Committed: June 26.

Hometown: Milwaukee.

High School: Marquette.

Height: 6-2.

Weight: 200.

Ratings: Schmidt is rated a five-star prospect as a kicker and punter by Kohl’s kicking.

The lowdown: Schmidt earned honorable mention on the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association all-state team as a kicker and punter. He hit eight of 12 field goals last season to help Marquette win the Division 1 state championship. Four of those field goals were longer than 40 yards. He hit his season long of 47 yards twice. Schmidt will join the program as a walk-on and placed on scholarship beginning the second semester of the 2025-26 school year.

Nicolas Clayton, defensive end  

Committed: June 22.

Hometown: Gainesville, Florida.

High School: Buchholz.

Height: 6-5.

Weight: 215 pounds.

Ratings: Rivals, 247sports, On3 and ESPN list Clayton as a three-star prospect.

The lowdown: Clayton helped Buchholz go 13-1 last season and reach the semifinals of the state playoffs. He finished the campaign with 52 tackles, 20 solo, with eight tackles for a loss, three sacks and 10 hurries. He chose the Badgers after narrowing his choices to include UW, Central Florida, Florida State, Nebraska and Tulane.

Wilnerson Telemaque, defensive end

Committed: June 18.

Hometown: Opa Locka, Florida.

High School: Monsignor Pace.

Height: 6-6.

Weight: 250 pounds.

Ratings: He is a consensus three-star recruit.

The lowdown: Telemaque chose UW over West Virginia, Florida and Georgia Tech. He helped his high school team advance to the second round of the state playoffs.

Eugene Hilton Jr., receiver

Committed: June 14.

Hometown: Zionsville, Indiana.

High School: Zionsville.

Height: 6-1.

Weight: 175 pounds.

Ratings: Rivals lists him as a four-star recruit. ESPN, 247sports and On3 consider him a three-star prospect.

The lowdown: The son of former Indianapolis Colts Pro Bowl receiver T.Y. Hilton caught 46 passes for 836 yards, an 18.2-yard average, and 10 touchdowns last season. He chose UW after narrowing his choices to also include Georgia, Miami, Purdue, Mississippi, Missouri and Kansas.

Mason Posa, inside linebacker

Committed: June 13.

Hometown: Albuquerque, New Mexico.

High School: La Cueva.

Height: 6-3.

Weight: 210 pounds.

Ratings: Posa is a consensus four-star recruit and the only Badger recruit in the ESPN 300. He is ranked No. 231.

The lowdown: The Badgers won a recruiting battle for Posa over a number of Power Four programs, but in the end it came down to UW, Texas A&M and Oregon. Posa racked up 133 tackles, 100 solo, last season with nine sacks, 21 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbers and two interceptions. He is also a three-time state wrestling champion.

Torin Pettaway, defensive line

Committed: June 11.

Hometown: Middleton, Wisconsin.

High School: Middleton.

Height: 6-5.

Weight: 285 pounds.

Ratings: Pettaway is considered a consensus three-star recruit.

The lowdown: Pettaway committed to the Badgers in March but soon threreafter changed his mind and committed to Minnesota. When he returned to UW’s roster of commits, he was still the first defensive lineman in the class. He was named the defensive end of the year in the Big 8 Conference and finished the season with 25 tackles that included five tackles for a loss and four sacks.

Nizyi Davis, tight end

Committed: June 10.

Hometown: Indianapolis.

High School: Lawrence Central.

Height: 6-6.

Weight: 210 pounds.

Ratings: Davis is considered a consensus three-star recruit.

The lowdown: Davis brings wide receiver athleticism to the tight end position. He caught 29 passes for 410 yards, a 14.1-yard average, and one touchdown last season while showing the ability to make blocks in space. He is also a basketball standout, who, according to the Indianapolis Star, missed last season due to injury.

Jahmare Washington, defensive back

Committed: June 9.

Hometown: Chicago.

High School: Morgan Park.

Height: 6-2.

Weight: 170 pounds.

Ratings: Washington is considered a consensus three-star recruit.

The lowdown: After playing receiver as a sophomore, Washington moved to the secondary as a junior. The move showcased his ability to play physical as well as to cover outside receivers, slot receivers or play safety. He chose Wisconsin after announcing offers from 16 Division I programs this year.

Nolan Davenport, offensive line

Committed: June 6.

Hometown: Massillon, Ohio.

High School: Massillon Washington.

Height: 6-6.

Weight: 280 pounds.

Ratings: On3 rates Davenport as a four-star prospect. ESPN, 247sports and Rivals give him three stars.

The lowdown: The nimble-footed tackle played tight end as a sophomore. In his first high school season as a full-time lineman, he earned second-team Division II all-state recognition and helped his team win a state championship. He announced 15 Division I offers on X since the end of the high school season and had visits with Penn State, Michigan State and Missouri scheduled before committing to UW.

Logan Powell, offensive lineman

Committed: June 1.

Hometown: Phoenix.     

High School: Brophy College Prep.

Height: 6-5.

Weight: 290 pounds.

Ratings: Rivals and 247sports give him four stars. ESPN and On3 consider him a three-star prospect.

The lowdown: Powell is the second-highest rated prospect in the class behind Posa. He chose the Badgers after narrowing his choices to also include Alabama, Arizona State, Oklahoma and Tennessee. He is poised for a big senior season after missing the first half of his junior campaign due to Arizona transfer rules.

Cameron Miller, wide receiver

Committed: May 15.

Hometown: Atco, New Jersey.

High School: Winslow Township.

Height: 5-11.

Weight: 165 pounds.

Ratings: He is a consensus three-star recruit.

The lowdown:  Miller has the makings of another great slot receiver. He finished his junior season with 59 catches for 1,342 yards, an average of 22.7 yards per catch, and 15 touchdowns. He chose the Badgers but also looked closely at Kentucky, Michigan, Rutgers and Syracuse.

Luke Emmerich, safety

Committed: May 3.

Hometown: Monticello, Minnesota.

High School: Monticello.

Height: 6-1.

Weight: 195 pounds.

Ratings: Emmerich is a consensus three-star recruit.

The lowdown: Emmerich missed his junior season due to knee injury but shined during the track season when he posted a personal-best time of 10.69 seconds in the 100 meters that caused the Badgers as well as the likes of USC and Nebraska to offer scholarships.

Cam Clark, offensive line

Committed: April 25.

Hometown: Dexter, Michigan.

High School: Dexter.

Height: 6-7.

Weight: 290 pounds

Ratings: Clark is a consensus three-star recruit.

The lowdown:  The massive tackle also received offers from Purdue, Kansas, Minnesota and Georgia Tech before committing to Wisconsin. He received honorable mention on the all-state team last season.

Grant Dean, safety

Committed: April 17.

Hometown: Neenah.     

High School: Neenah.

Height: 6-1.

Weight: 190 pounds.

Ratings: ESPN, On3, Rivals and 247sports rate him as a three-star prospect.

The lowdown: Dean made more waves last season as a running back for the Rockets, but his future in college is on defense. He ranked fourth on the team with 59 tackles, 36 solo, with two interceptions . He also gained 1,744 rushing yards in 244 carries.

Sam Lateju, outside linebacker

Committed: March 4.

Hometown: Lagos, Nigeria.

High School: Lawrenceville School (New Jersey).

Height: 6-5.

Weight: 230 pounds.

Ratings: Lateju is a consensus three-star recruit.

The lowdown:  Lateju hails from a part of Nigeria where there has been a push to grow football. Last season was just his second of organized football yet thanks to a good football IQ and impressive athleticism he announced 14 Division I offers on X before committing to the Badgers.

Brenden Anes, outside linebacker

Committed: Jan. 22.

Hometown: Franklin, Tennessee.

High School: Page.

Height: 6-2.

Weight: 220 pounds.

Ratings: Anes is listed as a three-star prospect by 247sports, Rivals, On3 and ESPN.

The lowdown: Anes drew a lot of interest as an inside linebacker, but one of the reasons he chose UW was because of the opportunity to play outside linebacker. He has helped his high school team go 25-5 with two state finals appearances the past two seasons. He made 99 tackles last season, 63 solo, with eight sacks, three interceptions and three defensive touchdowns.

Jaimier Scott, defensive back

Committed: Jan. 20.

Hometown: Cincinnati.

High School: Mount Healthy.

Height: 6-1.

Weight: 179 pounds.

Ratings: Rivals and On3 consider Scott a four-star recruit. ESPN and 247sports give him three stars.

The lowdown: A second-team all-state selection, Scott finished with 56 tackles and two interceptions last season, including one he returned for a touchdown. He also caught 34 passes for 611 yards and finished with 752 yards from scrimmage.

Cooper Catalano, inside linebacker

Committed: Nov. 28.

Hometown: Germantown, Wisconsin.

High School: Germantown.

Height: 6-2.

Weight: 215 pounds.

Ratings: Catalano is rated a three-star recruit by 247sports, Rivals, On3 and ESPN.

The lowdown: The Greater Metro Conference’s defensive back of the year has been a tackling machine the past three seasons. He piled up 405 tackles that included 48 tackles for a loss during that time. Last season he finished with 138 tackles, including 55 solo, when he received honorable mention on the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association all-state team.

Michael Roeske, offensive lineman

Committed: Nov. 12.

Hometown: Wautoma, Wisconsin.

High School: Wautoma.

Height: 6-8.

Weight: 295 pounds.

Ratings: Roeske is listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals, ESPN, 247sports and On3.

The lowdown: Roeske tore his right anterior cruiciate ligament during the second half of the third game last season and was done for the year. He is one track to return to the field this season. The injury didn’t quell UW’s interest, however, and he chose the Badgers after receiving offers from the likes of Illinois, Indiana and Notre Dame.

Remington Moss, defensive back

Committed: Aug. 2

Hometown: Fredericksburg, Virginia.

High School: St. Michael the Archangel Catholic.

Height: 6-3.

Weight: 192 pounds.

Ratings: Moss is a four-star recruit according to On3. Rivals, 247sports and ESPN list him as a three-star prospect.

The lowdown: Moss, who is a distant cousin of late Badgers running back Brent Moss, picked off two passes last and allowed just seven catches for the year.

Landyn Locke, quarterback

Committed: June 22, 2023.

Hometown: Rockwall, Texas.

High School: Rockwall.

Height: 6-4.

Weight: 185 pounds.

Ratings: Locke received a three-star rating from Rivals, 247sports, On3 and ESPN.

The lowdown: Locke is the brother of Badgers quarterback Braedyn Locke. He was his district’s co-offensive most valuable player last season when he helped Rockwall go 11-2. According to maxpreps, he completed almost 61% of his passes last season for 1,702 yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions.
