Ivanka Trump said it's 'painful to experience' watching her father's legal woes

WASHINGTON - Ivanka Trump said in a new interview that it’s “painful to experience” watching her father, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, involved in legal woes.

Her comments came as she was discussing on the Lex Fridman podcast Tuesday why she chose not to be involved in politics after Donald Trump announced his 2024 presidential election bid.

“Politics…it’s a pretty dark world,” she said. “There’s a lot of darkness, a lot of negativity, and it’s just really at odds with what feels good for me as a human being. And, you know, it’s a really - it’s a really rough business. So for me and my family, it feels right to not participate.”

Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, right, arrive for the funeral of Amalija Knavs on Thursday.

Fridman noted that he thinks “part of that darkness is just watching all the legal turmoil that’s going on.” He then asked,“What’s it like for you to see your father involved in that, going through that?”

“On a human level, it’s my father and I love him very much, so it’s painful to experience,” she replied. “But ultimately, I wish it didn’t have to be this way.”
