We needed business intelligence and interpretation of data that’s simplified and easy for all our users to use. The dashboard design and analysis from our ERP system was easy to use and our end users are happy with the results and operations improvements the product can provide to the institution at a rapid rate. What was accomplished is a powerful business intelligence and data analysis that our institution needed. The provided data models helped make our users job easier to manipulate and utilize giving us better ROI.

Increasing sales and student retention. It is well suited for data exploration and analysis. The other areas include ad hoc on demand reporting and response. It is fantastic for powerful real time data processing usage. It may not be appropriate for institutions looking for a low cost solution with a limited budget.

To visualize mainly financial and commercial sales data in a dashboard environment to provide insights to a wide audience, as well as the ability to drill deeper into the numbers to find specifics with regards to countries, business units or programs. The software is very scalable to add user (groups) and distribute standard dashboards to a wide audience.
  • Dashboard overview
  • Graphs / visualization
  • Make data understandable
  • Provide analytics tools
QlikView is great for data visualization for non-technical users. With easy graphs and tables you can help end-users analyze financial or sales data. Think of KPI's, insights or trends on a daily, monthly or quarterly basis. It is less appropriate for adding text clarifications, commentary or insights based on the datapoints that are shown on-screen.

I use QlikView to combine data from several disparate spreadsheets to analyze and report our market share with our distributor customers throughout the world. "Distributor Customers" is the primary key among the spreadsheets. Since we have over 100 distributors, it would take me a long time to do this analysis and reporting without loading it into QlikView and creating a chart.
  • aggregating and filtering data from disparate data sources
  • letting users slice and dice data quickly and easily
  • easy to customize formulas and fields to display exactly what you want
I have successfully loaded and analyzed data from html webpages with other data from spreadsheets. QlikView is very easy and intuitive for end users in finance, operations, sales, or marketing to use. I have not encountered any situations where QlikView was not able to handle the amount of data I needed to report/analyze, but if I worked for a Fortune 500 company, I am told that I could run into issues with data volume.

QlikView is used widespread, but not every group in the firm uses it currently. But usage is growing constantly, and we have many new use cases on the to-do list, so I anticipate expanded usage to continue.

Our analysts use QlikView to review data in detail, prepare dashboards and reports for their analysis commentary/output, etc. Managers also use QlikView for quick high level review of data.
  • Easy user interface.
  • Self-service available for 'power' users.
  • It is not very difficult to maintain or rollout updates.
QlikView is a great tool for our needs because it can quickly be configured to meet our user requirements, which are always changing and expanding.

It would be nice to have some additional features and capabilities available in QlikView, but we have been able to come up with some adequate workarounds to date.

We use it across every department for the most real-time view in dashboard reporting. Whether it's sales, production scheduling, IT system status or performance, etc. We also use it for viewing historical order and sales data. It has been critical for gaining insights into the performance of our organization.
  • Data visualizations
  • Data warehousing
  • Integrating with 3P software
I believe it's imperative for any growing organization to have a dynamic business intelligence tool and Qlik is among the top 5 options in my opinion. The robust features and integration capabilities make it a great option for all types of organizations, but when deciding between Qlik and other options, it really comes down to preference and compatibility with existing systems since it is very similar to competitor options like PowerBI.

We have many users working with the QlikView app, and export our ERP data to the software to apply filters and research product sales and orders across our global footprint. It can be very challenging to export past data and current trends from most ERP software, and the QV application makes it easy and fruitful in searching for trends and justification data.
  • Trend identification
  • New product tracking
  • Data export
Sales data validations have helped manage our justifications in the past, especially with regard to new product development and new business introduction. It has also been helpful in identifying trends with business impact and direction specific to quarter and monthly sales from ERP data as well as decisions to purchase equipment of staffing based on run rates and product demand.

One thing that can get out of hand is data output - if you aren't careful in your query, you may be overloaded with data dumps and drown in the amount of info you have to filter through. This is a user caution, not a comment on the software itself.

We implemented QlikView for a customer who needed better BI views of marketing, financial and selling data.
  • Graphic representation of numerical data.
  • Creation from scratch of reports suitable for any occasion.
QlikView is a good option when higher management levels from a company need self-explanatory data reports, without the need to access databases/SAP bases, run queries and pick the wanted information. You can create reports directly to PDF and PPT formats, or send them directly by e-mail (although this interface is very very clumsy).

QlikView is currently being used by most of the key users within our organization by those who needs to access highly-interactive analytics applications and dashboards in a really simple way. It's filters allow for a very intuitive use of the software, allowing the users different points of view of the same data.
  • Filters on reports are really easy to use.
  • It's easy to create new reports.
Qlikview's licenses are not cheap, but you get a good value for the price you are paying. In case you have a lot of users accessing the reports and dashboards, it could become a little pricey for the company, but in case you don't have too many users, you'll be OK.

The tool has high-quality graphing options that allow us to provide results to C suite level senior leader team on a daily basis and also generate graphs for analytics.
  • Interactive.
  • Easy to use.
QlikView is well suited for business analysts who need to provide daily reports but do not have decent knowledge of the current free data science tools such as Python and R, which have much higher learning curve to master. In this case, QlikView provides a comparably easy-to-use alternative.

I am currently looking into QlikView as an alternative to Tableau system that we are using at the moment. Same as Tableau, it is used for the data visualization purpose. That being said, ease of use and security are the two main concerns for us in deciding which tool to use.
  • Owning a data warehouse.
  • Addition of scripting feature.
If you need to perform further calculation and analysis during the time that you are using the tool, QlikView is a good option; however, if you need a tool to create your presentation via a storytelling format, QlikView is definitely not the best option. Tools such as tables are better.

  • Pattern visualization.

Good : Creating dashboards for a sanitized dataset. Bad : Importing data from unstructured sources (flat files/streaming data).

A great product that is easy to use, but it does have some slight issues with integration as well being too expensive

It's used by our BI department to make a determination of data analytics to improve processes in which we can achieve faster wait times. Understanding the time/date/nature of visits. A very holistic approach to make educated decisions.
  • Fast to learn.
  • Interacts with most Database or data sources.
If cost is of the essence then this product can do what you are probably looking for. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles straight out of the box, it does require some development if you don't want the canned reports. It does have some hardware limitations and from the last usage of it, it couldn't support newer hardware memory inclusions.

  • Robust In-Memory Technology: data can be stored in-memory and you can access the reports quickly.
  • Compresses the data to one-tenth of the actual size.
  • Powerful data searching technology.
Well Suited:
  • If you are well versed with other BI tools, doing complex calculations will be easy. Otherwise, you might need an expert to handle those.
  • If you have a huge dataset and are looking for quick calculations.

Not well suited:
  • If you are a small company, licensing is going to be challenging. Also, you will require the necessary infrastructure to handle this load of the tool.

  • It is fairly user-friendly for creating new Apps.
  • It has the ability to handle large volumes of data -- over 5000+ lines.
  • The ability to extract the data into excel, pdf files, etc..
QlikView is another tool similar to Tableau. It is great for connecting to ERP systems, maintaining databases, and creating various reports for analytics. A huge benefit is its ability to refresh data automatically for front end users that are not as hands-on with the data and just need to quickly extract data at any given time.
