Here at T&C, we pride ourselves on our discerning eye for quality. With Tried & True, our editors will give you an inside look at the pieces they simply cannot live without.

There are some fashion milestones you dream about: getting your ears pierced, buying your prom dress, trying on wedding gowns. And then there are those pivotal style moments that catch you by surprise. The first time I shimmied back into my pre-pregnancy jeans? That was one of those moments.

There was something so satisfying about finally being able to button up a pair of proper “hard pants.” No awkward over-the-belly panel or elastic waist—they were a classic medium wash, appropriately from the brand Mother.

Figuring out your postpartum style is no joke—and that truth is only made more complicated when over the course of your pregnancy, the fashion powers that be decided my much-loved skinny jeans were decidedly out. Fortunately this pair, with its straight-legged fit doesn’t scream millennial (although that is decidedly what I am).

A slight bit of stretch and a high rise help them hug my now more voluptuous hips, and they're comfy even when playing with my 6-month-old on the floor. It’s undeniable that they’re mom jeans, but they’re mom jeans that make me feel good about myself and slightly more pulled together while running errands.

It doesn't hurt that both Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are fans of the brand, too. My life is a far cry from state banquets, movie premieres, and charity engagements, (I'm also in no state to launch a jam brand) but it feels good to know that my go-to jeans are royal-approved.

My current favorite jeans are the Tomcat style, but shop a few other picks from the brand below.
